Querencia 101: Resourceful solutions.

Bundle up buttercup🤣
Who else is racing around with these temps? This season has such low snowpack & warmer temps that I won’t be able irrigate my 22 baby fruit trees (water catchment era). But they first have to survive the frost. However, the garlic is thriving!!

What a timely reminder:
"Imagination reminds us that we are not bound by our patterns. In any moment, there are multiple ways to approach what is before us. When we remember this, curiosity and play return, even in situations that once felt heavy or fixed."

Reimagining Together. Reimagining is not limited to the self. It naturally extends outward into the world we live in and the relationships we hold.In times of tension, division, and conflict, both globally and closer to home, this collective dimension of imagination becomes even more essential. The best Tuesday of 2025 was this day with dear colleagues at Taos Pueblo. Such a sweet gift to bid farewell to my role.

It’s been a little over a month of no longer serving as a Town of Taos Councilmember, where meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

Tuesdays have been strange, and adjusting to life post- council is very peculiar.

In other news, did you know that filing for candidacy for Taos County Commissioner is fast approaching now in March? Who are you encouraging to run for office ?

The familiar voice of reason, and Taos raised colleague y vecina, Maya Anthony at New Mexico Voices for Children speaks to what our entire region knows all too well:

"We can no longer afford to let industry lobbyists call climate action “too expensive” while New Mexicans are left to foot the real bill in emergency funds, in lost lives, and in a future that grows more uncertain by the day."

A policy analyst for New Mexico Voices for Children argues that lawmakers need to take action on climate to protect New Mexico families.

There is no vibrant future if we strip children of safety, protection, education, shelter, food and love. What happens to one child is relevant to every adult. And any injustice that can happen to one child could inevitably happen to your loved little one.

Gaining lovely minutes before the sun sets. But it’s still Winter.

Keep in mind it’s a “Code Blue” dangerously low temp night, emergency shelter at Taos NEST 601 Lovato Place. Volunteers always appreciated & needed. Donate or complete their survey here https://www.dreamtreeproject.org/codeblue

It can be overwhelming to step into new arenas and possibilities, but less so when you have a hometown champion in your corner. Feliz Cumpleaños to Louis A. Jeantete who has uplifted countless colleagues, neighbors and friends throughout northern NM. Your time, ideas and collaboration with , rotary, campaigns, community events, Encantado Foundation, and various leadership opportunities has positively impacted so many of us. I’m grateful for your belief in me and for always having a great book recommendation!! I wouldn’t have been recognized as a 40 Under 40 , or be selected as a Kellogg Fellow, completed my demanding term on Town Council, or leading Twirl as their Executive Director without you and you encouragement.
Cheers to you as you enter a new decade and may all the goodness that you share with us return to you ten fold!
What book has Louis recommended to you ? What project did he help you brainstorm? How has Louis celebrated you?!
