🚨 ACTION NEEDED – Public Comment by March 18

Circle K has applied to the Arizona State Liquor Board for a Series 9 liquor license (full liquor sales) at the planned store at:

📍 9015 E. Tanque Verde Rd
(Catalina Hwy & Tanque Verde Rd)

This type of license would allow full liquor sales and could significantly impact the character of our valley.

TVVA is committed to protecting the safety, character, and quality of life in our community. For that reason, we oppose the Series 9 license and ask the Board to limit approval to a Series 10 license (beer and wine only); the same license Circle K requested, and received, for its store now under construction at Houghton and Tanque Verde.

Your voice matters. The AZ Liquor Board accepts public comments, and even a short message about concerns such as traffic safety, community values, or easier access to alcohol can make a difference.

Residents can submit public comments directly to the Arizona State Liquor Board.

⏰ Deadline: March 18 to be considered by the AZ Liquor Board.

Even a short message can make a difference.

By speaking up now, we can help protect the safety and character of the Tanque Verde Valley.

Thank you for supporting TVVA and caring about our community’s future.

Please share this post so more residents are aware before the deadline.

The Tanque Verde Valley Association invites all members and interested community residents to attend our upcoming General Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for March 25, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, in the large meeting room at Kirk Bear Canyon Library.

This meeting will provide TVVA with the opportunity to communicate significant community updates. The Agenda will be dedicated to two topics: 1) our "Special Area" application within Pima County’s Comprehensive Plan; and 2) the steps TVVA is taking concerning the future of the Al Marah Equine Center.

We encourage everyone to participate in shaping the direction of our community. Join us!

TVVA is looking into the future of the Al Marah Equine Center, an important part of our Valley’s horse community. As part of our plan to create a horse-friendly area, we are exploring ways to protect open space, keep land use responsible, and preserve our rural way of life.
If you want to help make a positive difference in our Valley, join TVVA’s efforts to “Preserve What’s Precious.” Visit TVVA.ORG to become a member, volunteer, or donate.

Welcome Our New Board Members!

Introducing Paul Bucky and Nicole Maritato

The TVVA Board of Directors is delighted to announce and warmly welcome two outstanding individuals to our leadership team: Paul Bucky and Nicole Maritato! Both were elected as directors at our January 13th meeting, recognized for their remarkable initiative and dedication throughout 2025. Paul brought fresh energy to our website updates, while Nicole tackled our membership verification process - each making a significant impact through their volunteerism.

Paul Bucky serves as the Executive Director and Founder of Bio-Touch Healing, a Tucson-based nonprofit with global reach. His 35 years of committed service to the organization reflect his passion for activism and community engagement. Paul’s expertise spans organizational management, activism, website development, email newsletters, and social media updates.

Nicole Maritato, our TVVA Membership Director, is a real estate broker associate with a diverse background as a business owner in general contracting, as well as experience in office management, accounting, and human resources. Her work with financial stakeholders has helped her cultivate strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaborative skills. Nicole is known for her resourcefulness and ability to see tasks through to completion.

Both Nicole and Paul are eager to support our community, protect our natural surroundings, and address important issues affecting the Tanque Verde Valley. We are excited for the enthusiasm and expertise they bring to the Board and look forward to their contributions in the year ahead.
