Big day for Tannersville and the surrounding community!

We officially broke ground on the Fromer Market Gardens Culinary Hub, a space that will bring together education, local food, and small-scale craft production under one roof. This project is all about creating opportunities for growers, makers, and future culinary professionals to learn, collaborate, and thrive.

We’re proud to be working alongside incredible partners who helped make this vision possible: USDA, Empire State Development, NYS Department of State, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and the Village of Tannersville.

Once complete, Cornell Cooperative Extension will lead the educational programming and develop the curriculum, helping ensure this hub becomes a lasting resource for hands-on learning and workforce development in our region.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we build something truly special for our community!

Held in Color is a public art initiative created in memory of Vicki Thompson.

Vicki had this incredible belief in art, not just as something beautiful, but as something that connects people and makes a place feel alive. She brought color into every space she walked into. She believed creativity mattered. She believed community mattered. And she gave so much of herself to both.

Through the support of The Hunter Foundation’s Paint Project, we are welcoming muralist Justin Badenhorst back to Tannersville, alongside talented local artists, to bring a series of murals to life throughout Tannersville, honoring Vicki’s legacy while continuing to build what we’re known for: the Painted Village in the Sky.

Each mural will also include a QR code that allows visitors to donate directly toward cystic fibrosis research and support, the disease Vicki bravely battled and ultimately lost her life to. In this way, her legacy won’t just live on in color on our walls, but in continued impact and hope for others facing the same fight.

Painting is scheduled to begin in the spring/summer 2026. If you would like to get involved or donate towards this initiative, please email [email protected] - More details to come.

We love seeing our community in the spotlight! This piece beautifully captures the spirit, creativity, and passion that define Tannersville and Hunter, and why we are so proud to call this place home.

From Mama’s Boy Burgers to affordable housing and arts institutions, Tannersville’s revival reflects a careful effort to balance tourism, community, and long-term stability in the Catskills.
