Drove past a parking lot this morning that used to have so many vehicles there. It made me sad that it was not as full as it used to be. It also hurt because I personally know the blood, sweat, tears, and heartache that went into this place. Then my next thought was that this afternoon that place will fill up with more than what is there this morning as people grieve and say goodbye to a dear friend.
However, his story, and the many stories of those who began the vision for that land and have since passed away brings a hope. I feel safe in assuming that those cars the used to fill that parking lot are filling parking lots elesewhere. What a great lesson that I feel is still being taught to us from these that have passed on that the church is more than one building or parking lot. Christian are more decisive than ever. And I hope that in our earthly pain we can still focus on what we are called to do. Honor the Lord with our life while loving everyone we come into contact with.
It does not matter what we are offended by, the church and Christianity - more importantly a relationship with Jesus was a free gift for everyone. We waste so much of the short time God gives us arguing amongst ourselves and arguing with a broken world. Today I hope we can put false information to rest, ie being offended by the Olympics, which were not a dig at the Lord supper painting, but actually a picture from Greek and Roman mythology that was meant to celebrate debauchery, drunkenness, and or**es.
We have so little time here on earth to serve our Lord. Our time would better praying for all the lost people because without Jesus they have no hope! Why beat someone when they are down, and yes those people are down whether they realize it or not. We know where they are headed if they don’t repent. Repentance will not come from your anger, but we know from the parable of the persistant widow, God will bring about real change when we continually pray. Our best weapon as Christians in our world today is not platform, but our prayers!
“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
