Obituary for Allen Blake Parnell
Allen Blake Parnell passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his home in Tanner Williams, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 19, 1937, in Laska, Alabama, Allen was the beloved son of Grover and Mary Beck Parnell. A husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Allen lived a life defined by family, service, and love for the great outdoors. Allen was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a patriotic American to his core. He dedicated many years of his life to working at Scott Paper Company before retiring to fully enjoy the beauty of nature that he so deeply cherished. Whether in the woods, on a lake/pond, or across farmland, Allen felt at home in the outdoors.
Known for his joking personality, Allen never met a stranger. His friendly wave and welcoming smile were familiar sights in his community. He made it a point to stay connected with family, friends, and even new acquaintances.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Gentiva Hospice, with special thanks to his sitters, Katherine, Monica, and Tori, for their compassionate care in his final days.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Donna (Neise) Williams (Russell) and Susan Nelson (Jay Breland); his grandchildren, Rusty Williams, Kristen Ehlmann (Andrew), Blake Corey (Brittany), and Koby Nelson; and his great-grandchildren, Trey Culver, Carson Culver, and Case Culver.
