Last week, we had the honor of hosting the 2026 Florida Area Council in Tampa.

The conference brought together Boys & Girls Club CEOs and board members from across Florida, along with representatives from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, for three days of learning, collaboration, and connection.

Attendees participated in leadership roundtables and breakout sessions focused on strengthening safety culture, planned giving, community partnerships, strategic communications, statewide impact, and other opportunities to build stronger Clubs. The conference also included an awards celebration recognizing outstanding CEOs, board members, board leadership, and programs from across Florida.

Florida Area Council Board Chair and Immediate Past Chair of our Corporate Board Edwin Narain helped guide the conference and moderated a distinguished alumni panel featuring retired U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Erroll Brown; Thaddeus “Titus O’Neil” Bullard, WWE Global Ambassador; and Francisco “Frank” Sanchez, attorney and former U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce.

Their stories brought the purpose behind every conversation into focus and demonstrated how the Club experience can continue shaping young people into leaders who make an impact in their professions and communities.

We were especially proud to share Tampa with our guests through Light the Bay Blue, when landmarks across the city illuminated the night in support of Club youth.

We’re excited to share two important leadership appointments as we continue building for the future of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay.

Jason Jenkins has been named President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay Foundation, in addition to his role as Chief of Staff, and Jennifer Permuy-Brown has been named Vice President of Foundation Operations & Advancement.

As part of this transition, Glenn Permuy Sr. will move into the role of President Emeritus. We are deeply grateful for Glenn’s leadership, dedication, and lasting contributions to the Foundation, and we look forward to his continued guidance and support during this next chapter.

Together, Jason and Jennifer will help lead the Foundation into its next chapter, strengthening alignment, advancing stewardship, and building the long-term resources needed to support our mission and the young people we serve.

Congratulations to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay Board Member and Immediate Past Chair Elizabeth “Liz” Constantine, Esq. on her election as Circuit Judge for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, Group 39, serving Pinellas and Pasco counties.

We appreciate Liz’s service to our organization and are proud to celebrate Liz and her continued commitment to leadership and public service in our community.

We’re so grateful to World Youth Clubs and Oxhill Youth Club for giving our young people the opportunity to experience a new culture, build friendships, and discover just how much they have in common with young people thousands of miles from home.

From Tampa Bay to the UK, this trip was a powerful reminder that connection has no borders. The memories, confidence, and friendships our Club kids brought home will last far beyond this trip.

Honorary Chief for a Day! 👮‍♂️🚔

Our President and CEO, Freddy Williams, recently had the opportunity to spend the day alongside St. Petersburg Police Department Chief Anthony Holloway!

During his day on the job, Freddy toured the St. Petersburg Police Department’s state-of-the-art headquarters and training facility and even took the lead during a command staff meeting.

Thank you to Chief Holloway and the entire St. Petersburg Police Department for welcoming Freddy and giving him a behind-the-scenes look at the important work they do to serve the St. Petersburg community. 💙

Today, on International Youth Day, we are celebrating the young people who fill our Clubs with joy, energy, creativity, curiosity, and so much potential.

For 100 years, young people have been at the heart of our work. Every day, we remain committed to providing spaces where kids and teens can be themselves, connect with caring mentors, discover new opportunities, and feel supported as they build their futures.
