🌎 World Homeless Day — October 10, 2026

Saturday, October 10, 2026, is World Homeless Day, a day to bring greater awareness to homelessness, challenge the stigma surrounding it, and encourage communities to take meaningful action.

Homelessness is not just a statistic. Behind every number is a person, a neighbor, a parent, a child, a veteran, a senior, or someone who has experienced circumstances that changed their life.
World Homeless Day gives us an opportunity to pause, look around our own communities, and ask:
What can I do to help?

Here in our community, Hope on the Horizon is committed to making a difference one meal, one act of kindness, and one person at a time. ❤️
Whether it’s volunteering to pick up donated food, helping distribute meals, donating needed items, or simply treating someone experiencing homelessness with dignity and compassion, every action matters.
You don’t have to change the whole world to make a difference.

You can start with one person. One meal. One hour. One act of kindness.
This World Homeless Day, let’s remind our community that everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and treated with dignity.

🤝 Join Hope on the Horizon in making a difference.

💙 IMAGINE TRYING EVERYTHING YOU CAN… AND STILL HITTING A WALL.

Imagine you have a college degree.

You worked hard. You had a career. You paid your bills. You had a home and a sense of security.

Then you lost your job.

You didn’t stop trying.

You apply for one job… then another… then another.

But today, finding a job often requires something many of us take for granted: internet access.

Applications are online.
Resumes are uploaded online.
Interviews may be virtual.
Employers send emails instead of making phone calls.
Even checking the status of an application requires internet access.

Now imagine not having reliable internet.

You find a job you qualify for, but you can’t apply.

You finally find somewhere with Wi-Fi, but you have limited time.

You need to update your resume, fill out a lengthy application, create an account, verify an email, upload documents, and answer questions, all from a phone.

And then there’s transportation.

You get an interview.

It’s across town.

You don’t have a car.
You can’t afford an Uber.
Public transportation may take hours.

The frustration builds.

You are educated.
You are willing to work.
You are applying.
You are trying.

But every step forward seems to come with another barrier.

This is how someone can go from being independent and self-sufficient to needing help simply to get through the day.

And sometimes, what they need isn’t a handout.

They need a hand up.

❤️ A meal while they’re searching for work.
❤️ Access to basic necessities.
❤️ Help getting to an interview.
❤️ A connection to a resource.
❤️ Access to technology or internet.
❤️ Someone willing to listen.
❤️ Someone who says, “Keep going. We’re here.”

At Hope on the Horizon, we believe people shouldn’t be defined by the hardest chapter of their lives.

🌅 Your support can help someone keep going until that next opportunity comes.

Volunteer. Donate. Be part of someone’s bridge from struggling to standing strong again.

❤️ Hope on The Horizon is about more than a meal.

When someone is experiencing homelessness or food insecurity, the need goes far beyond food. A meal can fill an empty stomach, but it is the connection, compassion, and community that can help begin to change a life.

At Hope on The Horizon, we believe in meeting people where they are and helping them take the next step forward. We build relationships. We listen. We encourage. And when someone is ready, we help connect them with resources for housing, recovery from drugs and alcohol, mental health support, and other services that can help them get back on their feet.

We know that rebuilding a life doesn't happen overnight. It takes time, support, patience, and people who are willing to walk alongside you.

That’s why we show up. ❤️

We’re not just serving food. We’re building community, restoring dignity, creating connections, and reminding people that they are not forgotten and they are not alone.

Every meal is an opportunity.
Every conversation matters.
Every person matters.

This is Hope on The Horizon. 🌅❤️

Men's clothing need. We currently have 2 clients in this program and they have expressed to me there's a need for men's clothing in the clothing closet for new clients coming in with nothing. Reach out if you have any men's clothing or shoes to donate and we will be happy to meet up to get them from you and deliver to the facility. Thanks!
