Prayer Night - Abiding in the Father and the Son
Church family…
We do not gather around a program.
We are gathering around a Person.
Christianity is not merely believing certain truths. It is entering into a relationship. And that relationship is not distant. It is with the Father… through the Son… by the Spirit.
When our relationship with the Father and the Son is healthy and alive, something beautiful begins to happen. Hope rises. Healing begins. Peace settles.
Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Notice the sweetness & tenderness in that truth that Jesus wants us to know. Jesus is not merely showing us a path like the yellow brick road. He is the way. Through Christ, we are not just forgiven — we are brought home.
Because of Jesus, the Father is not distant. The Father is not unreachable. The Father is not turning away from His redeemed children. He invites us to come near.
When we pray tonight, we are not reaching into the dark. We are coming to our Heavenly Father.
That word alone brings hope.
First John 1:3 says, “Truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
Fellowship means shared life. It means we are not walking alone. The Father shares His heart with us. The Son shares His righteousness with us and His presence of the Holy Spirit surrounds us.
When life beats us up — and it does — isolation makes the pain heavier. But fellowship restores hope. Hope does not come because everything around us suddenly changes. Hope comes because we know we are not alone in it.
He is called the God of hope.
Psalm 103 tells us that He forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases. The Father is not only Creator — He is Healer.
And when we look at Jesus, we see the heart of the Father. Jesus touched the l***r. He restored the broken. He wept with the grieving. He forgave the sinner. He did not push away the wounded — He drew near to them. Like the woman at the well, He intentionally made an effort to encounter her----like He does us
Some healing is physical. Some healing is emotional. Some healing is spiritual. But all true healing begins in restored relationship.
Sometimes the deepest wound is not in the body — it is in the heart. It is the quiet thought that says, “God must be disappointed with me.” Or “God feels far from me.” Or “God is tired of me.”
But the cross declares otherwise.
Jesus said in John 15:4, “Abide in Me, and I in you.”
Healing is not found in striving. Hope is not found in performance. They are found in abiding.
Tonight, healing may not come instantly in every situation. But peace can come immediately. When we rest in the Father’s love… when we trust the Son’s finished work… when we open our hearts honestly in prayer… hope begins to breathe again.
A child who falls and scrapes their knee does not run to a medical book. They run to their father. The father may not remove the pain instantly, but his presence changes the child’s experience of it.
In the same way, we come not just for answers — but for Him.
And in His presence, fear softens. Sorrow lifts. Hope is rekindled.
So, let us come to the Father without fear. Let us trust the Son without hesitation. Let us ask honestly for healing where we are wounded. Let us receive hope where we feel weary.
You are not an orphan. You are not abandoned. You are not unheard.
Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son.
And in that relationship… there is hope. There is healing. There is life.
Let’s go to Him now.
Father, we come to You as Your children. Thank You that through Jesus we are forgiven, welcomed, and brought near.
For those who are weary, breathe hope. For those who are wounded, bring healing. For those who feel distant, remind them that You are near, and never forsaken.
Teach us to abide in You and to rest in Your love. We receive Your peace and Your presence now.
In Jesus’ name, Amen & Amen.
