Remembering Dawn Gingrich
On behalf of the Service Unit team, it is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news that Dawn Gingrich, leader of Girl Scout Troops 545 and 559, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Dawn was a dedicated Girl Scout volunteer who devoted 29 remarkable years to supporting girls and advancing the Girl Scout mission. Many in our Girl Scout community had the privilege of working alongside Dawn throughout the years and witnessing the joy, leadership, and kindness she brought to everything she did.
Dawn believed in the power of Girl Scouting to help girls discover their strengths, build confidence, develop courage, and become leaders who make a difference in the world. Through her unwavering commitment, she created meaningful experiences, fostered lasting friendships, and opened doors for girls to learn, grow, and realize their potential. Her passion for the Girl Scout mission leaves a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her legacy extends far beyond her years of service. The girls she inspired, the families she supported, the volunteers she mentored, and the staff members she worked alongside are all part of the lasting difference she made in our Girl Scout community.
Family, friends, and members of the Girl Scout community are invited to honor and remember Dawn at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
As we grieve this tremendous loss, please keep the Gingrich family, as well as the girls and families of Troops 545 and 559, in your thoughts. Council staff and Service Unit leadership are working closely with the troops’ co-leaders to ensure that the girls and their families have access to the grief support and resources they need during this difficult time.
We also invite those who knew Dawn to take a moment to reflect on the memories they shared with her and the countless ways she made a difference in the lives of girls. If you have photos, videos, or personal tributes you would like to share in her memory, please email them to [email protected].
Dawn, thank you for 29 years of dedication, compassion, and service to Girl Scouts. Your legacy will live on in the girls you empowered, the leaders you mentored, the families you touched, and the countless lives you helped shape. The values of courage, confidence, and character you instilled will continue to inspire generations to come.
You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always a part of our Girl Scout family. 💚
