We’re getting ready for the Fox Strong Ball Hockey Tournament on February 6, 2027, at Oakstead Elementary, held in honor of our Mason. This event is about bringing our community together, creating joy, and continuing Mason’s legacy while raising funds for the Smile Like Mason Fox Foundation.

To make this event as special as we know it can be, we’re looking for sponsors! September may be coming to an end, but the message behind these gold laces doesn’t. 💛

This month, the Smile Like Mason Fox Foundation was honored to provide gold laces to all 14 Tampa Bay Crunch teams to wear throughout September in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Seeing 14 teams take the ice covered in gold was incredible. And seeing surrounding local teams add gold to their sticks and join in the message made it even more meaningful. 💛🏒

But we hope this went beyond simply wearing gold.

We hope it started conversations.

We hope it made people stop and wonder why childhood cancer needs so much more awareness, research, funding, and support.

Because childhood cancer is not rare. The impact reaches far beyond the hospital walls, affecting children, parents, siblings, families, and entire communities.

Every gold lace. Every gold stick. Every conversation matters.

Thank you to every team, player, coach, and family who helped us Go Gold for the kids. 💛

For Mason. For every child fighting. For every child we’ve lost. And for the families who will forever carry them.

CureFest in DC is one of those places that breaks your heart and somehow helps hold it together at the same time.

Being surrounded by so many pediatric cancer families is something I can’t fully put into words. There is an understanding between us that doesn’t need to be explained. And for those of us who are bereaved, there is a quiet recognition in one another—a knowing of the life we never imagined we would have to live.

Then there are the shoes.

1,800 pairs of shoes laid out to represent the approximately 1,800 children who die from cancer every year.

Every shoe represents a child.
A life.
A family.
A mother and father who have to learn how to breathe in a world without their child.

And every year, seeing those shoes gets me. I can’t walk past them without thinking of Mason. Without thinking about the empty space he left behind and how unbelievably unfair it is that there are so many more families who know this kind of loss.

1,800 children.

It is not a number. It is 1,800 names. 1,800 personalities. 1,800 dreams. 1,800 families whose lives will never be the same.

CureFest reminds me that while this road is one I never wanted to walk, we don’t have to walk it alone. There is a community here that understands the grief, the anger, the love, and the impossible task of carrying our children forward.

For Mason.
For every child represented by those shoes.
And for every family still fighting to bring their child home.

This should never be our reality.
It is so unbelievably unfair. 💜💙

💛 Mason’s legacy is shining across the ice this September. 💛

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Smile Like Mason Fox Foundation purchased 240 gold hockey laces for all 14 Tampa Bay Crunch teams to wear throughout the month of September.

Gold is the official color of childhood cancer awareness, and seeing so many young players lace up in gold is a beautiful reminder that these kids are playing for something bigger than hockey.

Raylan and Leslie recently interviewed with Tampa Bay 28 to talk about the meaning behind the gold laces, our Foundation, and why keeping Mason’s name and story alive means so much to our family.

We couldn’t be prouder of Mason. His life was far too short, but his impact continues to reach farther than we ever could have imagined. ❤️
