It has been a while since we last communicated with you all, and there is a reason for that. We are working on a Facebook Live session where we will discuss various medical issues facing people in Liberia with a physician. This will give people opportunity to ask questions.

The purpose of this live show will be to educate people about certain disease processes and what they can do to help mitigate problems that may arise as a result, as well as what questions to ask your doctor.

Please let us know if you think this will be beneficial. We also want your input.

Thanks

To all friends of Feed Liberian Minds we are embarking on this project to build a Medical simulation center to help train medical professionals in Liberia, in hopes that it help reduce the number of deaths caused by some of our Medical professionals as a result of a lack of adequate training. Please view, comment, share and support our cause. Thanks

I have lost family, friends, and loved ones in Liberia because the medical professionals in Liberia who are trying their best, are not adequately trained and equipped to help save lives. It is my hope that this training facility will provide them with the hands on training they need to help impro...

Thanks to all those who have taken the time to like our page and respond to our call to action. We are certain of your concern for and your desire to help improve the condition of our people in Liberia. We would like to ask you if you would contribute to the conversation by giving us your input. Tell us what has been your experience, what you see is lacking in the health and education sectors and what can we do to improve.
Remember "Rome was not built in a day," so the changes we seek may take some time to implement but discussing it is the first step to improving it.

I would like to engage all those who have shown interest in the Health and Education systems in Liberia by liking this page. In your opinion how can the health sector in Liberia improve? ( you can reference examples of issues)....

The healthcare system in Liberia needs to be rebuilt. Taking a holistic approach to healthcare as the system is rebuilt is the best way to address some of the major issues in our health and welfare system # taking care of the entire person not just their disease symptoms.

Over the past few months I have lost family members close to me in Liberia as a result of illnesses that are preventable and treatable. I get calls from people in Liberia who are afraid to go to the hospital for fear they will not come back alive.
The more I listen to these complaints I hear the same issues threading in these complaints, the medical professionals don't seem to care or maybe they don't seem to know.
How much longer are we going to just sit by and watch as our people die? When are we going to say enough is enough and do something? Why are ignoring, or not responding collectively to the cry for help? What is holding us back from taking the steps we know are needed to help people in Liberia get access to quality healthcare by qualified healthcare providers? Where is the United battle cry and the will to accomplish that change for all Liberians? Who is willing to stand up and say join us and let's do something?

Everyday we wait to contemplate, more people are dying. I for one am sick of hearing that people are dying from lack of knowledge.
We have an opportunity to build our healthcare system from the ground up, one to be rivaled and one the helps everyone......so
Come Let's Work Together to Get it Done!!

How do we remember those we have lost and continue to loose during this Ebola Crisis. The numbers on the news represents real people, with real stories, and some of them left families or a family member. Let us all remember them. Feed Liberian Minds is launching their website at the end of this month and we will have the names ( pictures) of those we lost to Ebola and a short story about their life and those they left behind. Join us in celebrating and remembering their life. If you have lost someone to Ebola, we ask you to send us a picture of the person, their name when they passed and a short story of their life so we can put them on the site.

Liberia is now considered the epicenter of the Ebola disease with about 50+ people being admitted to one of the isolation units on Sunday August 10, 2014 alone (according to NPR) this morning. This is scary and the fact that we are increasing in numbers is a bad sign in that we are not containing the disease. What do we need to do? We have started collecting donations to send to help, but we also need to provide mass communication to people about the truths of the disease, have it spoken in the different dialects, get the paramount chiefs and other under chiefs to actively speak with their towns people about the disease and show them what to do? Everyone needs to get involved. Enough talking now it's time to work

Feed Liberian Minds recently received communication from the CDC regarding what is needed to help. We were connected with some of the clinicians helping in Liberia and they emailed us a list of things they need. The information is dated August 4, 2014. We will be hosting a drive to collect these items to send back. Please stay connected for more information.

Come join the conversation, what can we do to help with the Ebola outbreak in Liberia. Can we help send PPE for the medical professionals? Can we help with immune boosting medication?

The current situation in Liberia is dire and a national emergency. We as a people are excellent back seat drivers when there is a problem. This is no time to just sit there and write about who did what to cause the problem. The problem is here what can we and should we do about it. The government has started to take the appropriate steps to try and isolate, the problem. What can we do to help? What assistance do they need now to help with this problem? Let's stop talking and let us do something now, time is of the essence........

I thought this was a novel idea, and a good start. But these questions remain, what are they looking to achieve and what is the next step? Are we ready to change the way we educate students? There are great examples of success in education around the world. Are we going to try and reinvent the wheel or are we going to learn from the best practices and customize a learning method that fits the students and helps them learn? The appearance of doing is no longer enough, there must be concrete substance.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has launched the Ministry of Education Operational Plan (2014-2016) with a number of recommendations aimed at improving the education sector of the country.
