Self-Reliance, Inc. was honored to attend the First Annual Caring for the Caregiver event, hosted by Tampa General Hospital and USF Health.
The event brought together 10 community vendors and approximately 25 participants for a meaningful day focused on supporting caregivers. Attendees enjoyed inspiring keynote speakers, learned about practical community resources, connected with local organizations, and shared a wonderful lunch together.

Our Grassroots Support Group had a wonderful time at our July meeting!
A special thank you to our guest speaker from the Florida Poison Control Center for providing an informative presentation on preventing medication errors and dangerous drug interactions. The valuable tips and resources shared will help our participants make safer medication decisions and know where to turn for help when questions arise.
Each participant also took home a Hurricane Preparedness Kit filled with helpful disaster preparedness information, evacuation route resources, and fun swag from the Florida Poison Control Center. As hurricane season continues, these materials will help our members stay informed and be better prepared for emergencies.
After the presentation, everyone enjoyed a fun ice cream social, giving members the opportunity to relax, connect with one another, and strengthen friendships.
Thank you to the Florida Poison Control Center for sharing your expertise and to everyone who joined us for another great afternoon of learning, laughter, preparedness, and community. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!

Summertime Fun!

June was filled with sunshine, laughter, and great conversations as we celebrated all things summer! The group spent time discussing hurricane preparedness, sharing favorite summer memories from childhood, and playing a fun round of "Would You Rather" with a twist—everyone had to tell a story along with their answer. The stories were creative, entertaining, and had us laughing together throughout the game.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and made the month so enjoyable. Until July, stay cool, stay positive, and make the most of your summer days!

The May meeting of the Women’s Group was a wonderful success. Participants enjoyed a creative craft project led by instructor Debi Martoccio, and the room was beautifully decorated in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Lunch featured tacos and other festive dishes generously sponsored by Zenovia.

A special acknowledgment goes to the group’s founder, Natalie Horne, who has dedicated the past five years to building a community that is fun, informative, and supportive of women with diverse disabilities. Appreciation is also extended to all the women who attend regularly. Your commitment and enthusiasm continue to make this group thrive.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support.
