Bakas Equestrian Center- Bakas horses for handicapped Bakas "Horses for Handicapped" offers therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults.

Bakas offers horseback riding to children and adults and specializes in those with disabilities. Operated by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department, the program provides group riding lessons, trail rides, parties and special events. Physically impaired and developmentally delayed riders have the opportunity to compete in Challenged horse shows and Special Olympics.

Riding provides them with increased self esteem, balance, coordination and improved attention span. Speech and social interaction, trunk control and spacial awareness are also enhanced. All types of disabilities are served, including some that are severe and profound.

If you know us, you know that the phone at Advanced Equine Dentistry never stops ringing! Often our new clients wait for ages to get their first appointment and our regular clients make their appointments 6 months to a year in advance. We frequently make evening stops to fit in horses with major concerns and we are known to do extractions on weekends just so the horses get appropriate care. We are so very, very fortunate to be this busy, but we also know the need for excellent Equine dental care is huge and more than we can do alone…..SO…..we are growing!! Keep an eye out to meet our new staff members as they arrive over the summer and be sure to introduce yourselves! We promise Richard is not leaving, but he is training a second AED team and building another trailer so that we can continue to meet the needs of your horses…and then also the horses we haven’t yet met. We will keep you updated!!!
