We’re so excited to share this special auction item that will be a part of our auction at our upcoming charity gala, The Unveiling!
Some pieces of art are beautiful because of what you see. This one is even more beautiful because of the story it carries.
Taylor’s great-aunt, Rosie, is a talented artist who is generously donating a custom-framed hand painted portrait of the Blessed Virgin Mary to this year’s auction.
Rosie’s son was diagnosed with a childhood illness at just three years old that was once considered incurable and fatal. Through years of uncertainty, hospital stays, and unimaginable pain, Rosie and her family prayed for a miracle. As she sat beside her son’s hospital bed, she began drawing characters on a Magna Doodle to distract him from the pain. She had never drawn before, but her mother encouraged her to take an art class as a way to cope with the anguish. That art class became its own kind of miracle.
This pastel painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary was created by Rosie in March 2001, born out of a season of fear, faith, and hope. Today, advancements in treatment have allowed her son to manage his illness and live a beautiful, full life with his wife.
Rosie is donating her meaningful artwork, and Master Art & Frame, a local frame shop on Kennedy Boulevard, is generously donating the custom framing. We are so grateful to see two talented people come together to make this auction item possible.
