Provider Spotlight: Dr. Hadi Skouri – President of IC-OS UAE 🩺🇦🇪

Dr. Hadi Skouri is a Consultant Cardiologist in the Cardiology Division at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi, with more than 14 years of experience treating advanced heart disease.

His areas of expertise include advanced heart failure (including mechanical assist devices), heart transplantation, cardio-oncology, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac amyloidosis. He was part of the team that brought the first LVAD implementation to the Middle East, and he was the first physician in the region to earn a fellowship from the Heart Failure Association.

Dr. Skouri trained at the American University of Beirut, completed a Heart Failure Fellowship at Mayo Clinic, and advanced training in heart failure and transplantation at Cleveland Clinic. He's a Fellow of the International Cardio-Oncology Society, the American College of Cardiology, and the European Society of Cardiology, and is certified as a Cardio-Oncologist with IC-OS.

He has published more than 55 research papers and has spent over a decade leading public awareness campaigns on heart failure across the MENA region.

🫁 + ❤️ = a connection we can't ignore

Today is World Lung Cancer Day, and we're shining a light on something patients and caregivers deserve to know: some lung cancer treatments – chest radiation, certain targeted therapies, immunotherapy – can affect the heart too.

That's where cardio-oncology comes in. It's a growing field dedicated to protecting heart health while patients get the cancer treatment they need. Baseline heart checks. Monitoring during treatment. A care team that talks to each other.

Because surviving cancer should mean thriving after it – heart included. 🤍
