☕🍩 Faith, Fellowship & Sunday Café!

It was a wonderful Sunday morning at Christ the King Catholic Church - Tampa, FL as volunteers from Knights of Columbus Council 12165 hosted this week’s Sunday Café in St. Michael’s Courtyard!

Our Brother Knights helped set up and serve coffee and donuts following the 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. Masses, offering parishioners an opportunity to gather and enjoy a little fellowship after worship.

We also welcomed men of the parish to learn more about our KofC Council and the many ways we serve Christ the King and the broader community through faith, family, charity, and fraternity.

A special thank you to all our Brother Knights who volunteered their time and to the parishioners who stopped by to visit.

Interested in becoming a Knight? We’d love to welcome you!

⭐️⭐️ Double Star Council & Knight of the Month! ⭐️⭐️

It was a special membership meeting tonight at Christ the King Catholic Church - Tampa, FL Council 12165.

We were proud to recognize Gene D’Amore, Grand Knight for the 2025–2026 fraternal year, as Council 12165 received the prestigious Double Star Council Award from the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council.

The Star Council Award recognizes excellence across the full mission of a Knights of Columbus council. Earning it required Council 12165 to achieve all three of the Order's major awards:

🏅 Father McGivney Award – recognizing excellence in membership growth and our commitment to inviting more Catholic men into the fraternity and mission of the Knights.

🏅 Columbian Award – recognizing excellence in charitable and faith-filled programming across the four pillars of Faith, Family, Community and Life.

🏅 Founder's Award – recognizing excellence in promoting the Knights' fraternal benefits and helping Catholic families learn about the financial protection and resources available through the Order.

But Council 12165 didn't simply achieve Star Council status... we earned Double Star Council, recognizing achievement of 200% of our membership goal while fulfilling the other requirements of Star Council!

This honor reflects an extraordinary year of growth, service, charitable outreach and fraternity. Congratulations and thank you to SK Gene for his leadership, and to the officers, Brother Knights, families and supporters whose work made this achievement possible.

👏 We were also pleased to recognize Tony Mosco as our Knight of the Month!

🇺🇸 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony – 25th Anniversary

On behalf of our Brother Knights of the Fr. William J. Tyrrell Assembly 0161, Council 12165 is honored to share an invitation to join them in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

On Friday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m., the Assembly will host a special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the World Trade Center Memorial at George M Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

As we mark 25 years since that tragic day, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger, and recognize the countless men and women whose lives of service were shaped by the events of September 11.

For the Knights of Columbus, this anniversary also carries special meaning. We remember our Brother Knights who were among those lost and honor the enduring principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism that call us to serve God, our families, our communities, and our country.

We encourage our Brother Knights, families, fellow parishioners, veterans, first responders, and members of the Tampa Bay community to join Assembly 0161 for this solemn observance.

🇨🇺 Havana Knights – Fraternity & Fellowship ⛪️

Council 12165 celebrated one of our favorite annual traditions tonight with Havana Knights, joined by our Christ the King priests and deacons.

The evening began, as our monthly meetings always do, with the Rosary, followed by our Membership Meeting. From there, Brothers and guests enjoyed a catered Cuban-themed buffet before moving outside for refreshments, dessert, ci**rs, and plenty of good conversation.

Havana Knights is always a highlight of the Council year .. an evening that brings together faith, fraternity, fun, and fellowship and reminds us that the bonds of brotherhood are strengthened not only through the work we do together, but also through the friendships we share.

As Pope Pius XI observed of the Knights of Columbus in 1926:

“Very special praise is due those Catholic organizations, which during all these trying times have stood like soldiers, side to side with the clergy.”

A special thank you to our priests and deacons for joining us, and to everyone who helped make another Havana Knights such a memorable evening!

🌍 A Journey of Faith, Fraternity & History 🌍

While celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on a 15-day Mediterranean cruise through five countries and 12 cities, SK Gene and Pam D'Amore experienced several memorable moments that connected our Council to the universal Church and the rich history of the Knights of Columbus.

While in Rome, SK Gene enjoyed dinner with Christ the King seminarian Dakota Gates, presenting him with a $500 check through the Knights of Columbus 'RSVP Program'. This year, Council 12165 was honored to provide financial support to all four seminarians representing Christ the King Catholic Church - Tampa, FL. Dakota, who is studying at the Pontifical North American College, is doing well and sends his greetings to everyone back home.

During a Scavi Tour beneath St. Peter's Basilica, Gene also came across the Vatican Media Communications Mobile Unit, generously donated by the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council in support of the Vatican's worldwide communications ministry... a wonderful reminder of the Order's global impact.

The journey also included a stop in Portofino, near Genoa, where Gene visited a statue honoring Christopher Columbus, recognizing his birthplace and the legacy that inspired the founding of our Order more than 140 years ago.

Congratulations to Gene and Pam on celebrating their silver wedding anniversary, and thank you, Gene, for representing Council 12165 and the Knights of Columbus so well wherever your travels take you.
