GiGi's Playhouse Tampa Changing the way the world views Down syndrome through free programs, empowerment, and acceptance in Tampa.

GiGi's Playhouse Tampa is a non-profit Down Syndrome Achievement Center with the mission to change the way the world views Down syndrome. All programs are delivered by trained volunteers and offered at no-cost to families in the local community.

🎉 What a GREAT Saturday to kick off the newest chapter of Playhouse Pals at GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa! 💙💛

Our signature program for participants ages 6–8 officially got underway, and our Pals made one thing abundantly clear: the ENTIRE Playhouse is their playground! 🥳

From diving into the ball pit 🟡 and shooting hoops 🏀 to racing cars 🏎️, bouncing on the mini-trampoline 🤸‍♂️, playing with bubbles 🫧, creating arts and crafts 🎨, and painting pumpkins 🎃, our new and returning Pals wasted no time making themselves at home!

But some of the best moments went beyond the activities. ❤️ We saw our participants practice self-advocacy by asking for the toys they wanted, getting their own drinks, and even pitching in to clean up the Playhouse. We also witnessed the beautiful bonds between siblings — from brother-and-sister painting sessions - with each other serving as the canvas! 🤭 to a big sister stepping into her program-assistant role to help her little brother transition to his next activity. Of course, the magnetic pull of the ball pit made that transition a little more challenging! 😂

These are the moments that remind us why community, connection, independence, inclusion & acceptance matter so much. And based on the wonderful feedback from our families and the incredible potential we saw today, this is only the beginning for Playhouse Pals! 🚀

We have so many exciting things in store for this age group throughout the Fall and beyond!

🧸🩺 Calling all teddy bears, stuffed animals, and favorite toys! It’s time for a check-up at GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa! 💚

Join us for our Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, October 24th, from 1:00–3:00 PM! 🩺✨

This one-time program is recommended for ALL AGES and gives our participants a fun, hands-on way to practice visiting the doctor or dentist in a friendly, welcoming environment! 🦷💉 Bring your favorite stuffed animal or toy and meet healthcare students and providers as we walk through a typical check-up together. 🩹🩺

Our goal is to help everyone feel more comfortable and confident about doctor and dentist visits while showing that healthcare experiences can be fun, positive, and safe! 💚🧸

Free. For every person with Down syndrome. For life. Yes… really. 💙💛

At GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa, individuals with Down syndrome can access purposeful programs from birth through adulthood at no cost to their families.

From literacy and math tutoring to fitness, cooking, STEM, speech and language, music, art, dance and career training, every program is designed to create opportunities to learn, grow and pursue individual goals.
And it’s all made possible by volunteers, donors and a community that believes in what’s possible.

This Down Syndrome Awareness Month, we’re inviting more of Tampa Bay to get to know GiGi’s Playhouse and more importantly, the people who make this place what it is.

🎉✨ A look back at this past Saturday’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration! ✨🎉

What an incredible afternoon filled with food, music, friendship, creativity, and FUN! 💃🏽🎶🍴🎨❤️ We had such an amazing turnout and loved celebrating together as a Playhouse community!

A huge thank you to Jennifer Trujillo and our entire Hispanic Committee for bringing our 2nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration to life! Your time, heart, and dedication made this day so special. 🫶🏽🌟

🍌 Thank you to Caribbean Twist for generously donating plantains and yuca for everyone to enjoy! They were absolutely delicious and a huge hit! 😋

🎨 Thank you to Miguel Noa for creating such a beautiful mural and giving everyone the opportunity to add their own creative touch. We loved watching the mural come to life through our community’s creativity! 🖌️✨

MYTH: People with Down syndrome can’t learn to read.
FACT: With the right support, individuals with Down syndrome absolutely can learn to read. 📚

Sometimes a label comes with assumptions about what someone will or won’t be able to do before they’ve even had the opportunity to try.

This Down Syndrome Awareness Month, we’re challenging those assumptions and making room for something much more important: each person’s individual abilities, goals and potential.
