Kaye Prox Food Bank A community-based, volunteer-run food pantry, providing supplemental food to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity Please join the group to learn more.

Kaye Prox Food Bank is an all-volunteer, community food bank, serving our neighbors residing in the Town & Country (33615, 33634, and 33614 West of Dale Mabry), Citrus Park (33625), and Westchase (33626, 33635) areas of greater Tampa. The Kaye Prox Food Bank gratefully accepts donations of money, food and personal care items. Our volunteers are available to receive donated items on Thursdays from 12 pm to 2 pm and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 12 pm. We operate three distributions a week: Monday 12:30 pm, Wednesday 12:30 pm, and Friday 2:30 pm. All three are Community Cupboard distributions, at which clients can select most of their own food items. Our updates and news for the Community Cupboard are posted to the facebook group, “Kaye Prox Community Cupboard”. The food bank is housed on the campus of the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, so operating costs are extremely low. No funds are used for salaries; our volunteers do everything required to organize and run the food bank. Donated funds are used to make bulk purchases of food and personal care items, and to purchase paper bags and other supplies for our distribution team. Consider a donation to the food bank as a holiday gift or in honor of a birthday, anniversary, or other event. Some employers match funds donated to community organizations such as the Kaye Prox Food Bank; please check to see if your employer participates in such a program. In Florida, one family's experience illustrates how changes to SNAP, driven by a fast-approaching federal deadline, may be making it harder for eligible people in many parts of the country to access this crucial food assistance program. FOX 13 Tampa Bay recently shared their story alongside a broader look at Florida's SNAP payment error rate and what's at stake.

States with higher SNAP payment error rates will soon be required to help cover more of the program's costs themselves. Without enough time for states and counties to improve their SNAP systems and lower these error rates, families' access to food assistance is at risk. Some states are already adding new requirements that seek to reduce errors but make it much harder for eligible families to access SNAP.

These errors are about broken systems. That's why we're asking Congress to delay the SNAP cost shift, which states and counties have requested so they can fix what's not work-ing without cutting the support families rely on.

SNAP is a bridge that helps people stay steady while they get back on their feet. Give states the time to get this right and protect SNAP access for families who need it.
