Happy Holy Week from all of us at Farm of the Child and Finca del Niño. We pray this is a week in which you can truly enter into the love and sacrifice Christ offers to each of us.

This week, as we continue to mark the 30th anniversary of our founder Vincent Pescatore’s passing, we reflect once again on his words. They remain a clear example for us to follow - calling us to true dependence on God and deep trust in His will.

"[When a friend] agreed to help handle our mail, he asked why we didn’t have any money in the bank, considering all we do.
I believe that one reason is that God chooses to fortify our faith by making us depend on Him. Like the lilies of the field, we are not to worry. He gives us only what we really need to serve Him, and at the last possible moment, so we learn to trust Him. ***Another reason is that we need more of your help—to build lives for the children.*** God provides for those who trust Him; we pray you will too. Human essence is divine; we testify of God to each other."

Meet one of our missioners, Rachel Ring. She has been serving as a nurse in our clinic for the last year and a half and is helping with a medical brigade this week.

There’s one week left to apply to become a missioner for next year.

If this has been on your heart, don’t wait—take the step and apply.

This week, our missioners are serving as translators for a medical brigade working in the community.

They helped ensure clear communication between patients and providers, supporting more effective and accessible care throughout the week.

We’re grateful for their continued commitment to serving in practical and meaningful ways.

I have spent the last few months reading and reflecting on the archived letters of our founder, Vincent Pescatore. His words have been for me an examination of conscience. I am grateful to have spent part of my work week throughout Lent praying through his and Zulena's writing, deciding what to share with you and hoping that you too take the time not just to read, but to reflect and truly bring the letter to your prayer.

We have two weeks left of Lent and I just have two more letters from our past 30 years to share with you. This one is my favorite. In our files, it is simply found in the 1986 folder of letters and titled "01-Undated." Reading what I believe to be his first letter to friends and potential supporters, I was inspired by his invitation to all of those who are part of our community:

"Jesus Christ is the foundation of our program. He forges our determination, guides our decisions, strengthens us in our trials, and rejoices with us when we witness His achievements. We are very grateful that He has accepted the offering of our wills, and is forming them into His own. We pray that our lives witness the reality of Christ's love so that the children we care for, and the staff we work with, will also accept His desire to be present in their lives.

We are trying to build a group of friends who will write to us, help us financially, and most importantly, pray for us. We even have room for visitors, especially ones who are patient enough to guide little hands learning to write, or know a lot about farming. We're eager to tell you more about our experiences, but first we need to hear from you." - Vincent

I ask you to be with us in these ways:

Write to us: Please share with me how you first encountered Farm of the Child and how you would like to give gifts of time or talent!
Help us financially: We exist because of your generosity. Please join us this Lent in almsgiving and ensuring that our children are cared for.
Pray for us: This is the most important gift you can give. Please add us to your daily prayers and remember us at Mass, in your Rosary, and any other moments with the Lord

Thank you for walking with us this Lent and know of our prayers for you!

Today, on World Water Day, we celebrate a dream that has been 30 years in the making. 💧

Because of the incredible generosity of a recent donor, we have been able to install a new water tower that will provide clean, reliable water to every corner of our property. What once felt out of reach is now a lasting reality.

This is more than infrastructure—it is dignity, health, sustainability, and hope for the future.

We are deeply grateful for the hands and hearts that made this possible. Thank you for helping turn a long-held dream into a life-giving legacy. 💙

Today, on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, we pause in gratitude and prayer for the men who have helped make our mission possible.

We remember in a special way Vincent, our founder, whose faithful “yes” continues to bear fruit 30 years after his passing. We also lift up our board members, Victor Martinez and Bishop Monseñor Jenry Mora, for their guidance and leadership.

We are deeply grateful for all of our male employees and the missioners who serve so generously—men who provide strong, loving examples for the young boys entrusted to our care.

St. Joseph, faithful protector and humble servant, pray for them. May they be strengthened in their vocation, guided in wisdom, and filled with the quiet courage that marked your life. 🙏

During Lent, we are invited into the desert — a place of reflection, sacrifice, and deeper trust in God.

Vincent once wrote to his wife Zulena, “I leave you my most precious possession.”
It was not a house or a car.

It was faith.

Years later, that same faith continues to guide the mission of Farm of the Child — serving children who face the desert of poverty every day.

Jesus reminds us that faith is not only something we believe — it is something we live.

Each of us has the opportunity to become an “aqueduct of God’s providence for His children.”

This Lent, we ask:
How is God calling you to put your faith into action?

Week 3 of Lent invites us to reflect with gratitude.

This week’s reflection from former missioner Nicholas St. Ores and Sr. Maria Estela looks back on God’s providence throughout the history of Farm of the Child and the many lives shaped by this mission.

Take a moment to read and reflect with us this Lent.

This week, Zulena shares a beautiful Lenten reflection as we begin this sacred season, and as we prepare to celebrate 30 years of God’s faithfulness at Farm of the Child.

We invite you to take a few quiet moments to read her message and join us in prayer, fasting, and giving. Let’s walk this Lenten journey together, united for the children and families God has entrusted to our care.

This first full week of Lent, we continue our 30th anniversary reflections with a writing from our founder, Vincent Pescatore. He was know widely for his immense faith, desire to serve and preach the kingdom, and ability to call others into mission with him.
In this reflection you can see the work from the original Farm of the Child in Guatemala. He reflects on the love of a father for his child, and the lengths he will go to for her benefit.
Join us this Lent in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, following the example of Vincent, who lived them with his whole life.

Today, on Ash Wednesday, we enter into the season of Lent — a time of prayer, fasting, and reflection.

This year, we invite you to journey with us.

As Farm of the Child celebrates 30 years of mission, we will be sharing reflections throughout Lent from our past three decades of serving children and families. We hope these stories and moments of grace will help all of us pause, remember God’s faithfulness, and reflect more deeply during this sacred season.

Our first reflection comes from former missioner Alisha Wilkinson — you can read it at the link in our bio.

We’ve also created a Lenten calendar to help guide your prayer. You can follow along with us each day — we’ll post it below.

Please join us in praying for our children, our missionaries, our staff, and all the families we serve. Know that we will be praying for you, too.
