We have started a new program as part of our Community Outreach and it is called P.I.P., (A Period Insecurity Project). Period poverty or the inability to obtain necessary period products is a huge problem for many students. Florida does not mandate that schools make these items available for those in need and do not have access to them even though some states do. We are working closely with a social worker from Hillsborough County Schools and will collect and distribute much needed female hygiene items that will be made available to any student who needs them. We are hoping to be able to gather enough donations to distribute to the schools as well as make 50 "PIP Pink Packs" to be distributed to individuals who do not have the ability to obtain these necessary items at the beginning of the school year . The "PIP Pink Pack" will include a package of menstrual pads, body wash and deodorant and a motivational bookmark in a pink medium size reusable bag. We eventually would like to add a hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste to the packs. Our goal is to provide support to these students, promote confidence and encourage healthy habits. We will be collecting these donations throughout the year for this project. Welcome to L.U. 123'S Benevolence Group page, (formerly LU 123's Auxiliary #159).The auxiliary will continue to post their community outreach projects on the local union's page.

Realizing the difficulties that many of our members are facing today we have formed this group to identify and assist with addressing some of these issues. We encourage all of our members and their families to participate in this group. We will start a "swap" section, have raffles and come together to help our Brothers and Sisters when they need a helping hand. Together we can do anything!
