After the 2024 hurricanes devastated the Tampa Bay region, Indhu Sekar and her husband experienced home damage like so many of their neighbors and friends. Owning a construction company, they worked around the clock, discounting their services to help people get back to livable spaces as quickly as possible.

"That experience gave me a ground-level view of the community's needs that I never had during my years working inside large institutions, and it reinforced that good governance and financial stewardship aren't abstract concepts; they're the difference between a family recovering quickly or struggling for months. I see board leadership as a natural extension of the accountability I've built my career on."

Indhu is one of 13 leaders starting our Evolve Board Fellowship that launches today. The program equips Tampa Bay professionals with the training and mentorship needed to govern with greatness and represent their communities. Upon graduation, we work to match them with a nonprofit for board service.
