If you went to Gasparilla, you have 3 options to recycle your beads:

1) Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- Go to the Krispy Kreme at 3113 W Kennedy Blvd. and if you bring in at least 12 pounds of beads, you receive a coupon for a free dozen original glazed doughnuts.
2) Drop off beads at Copeland Park, Kate Jackson, Loretta Ingraham and Port Tampa community centers during regular hours starting Feb. 4.
3) Beads can also be dropped off directly to the MacDonald Training Center at 5420 W Cypress St. on any weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There, the beads are untangled, repackaged and sold back to Gasparilla krewes.

Keep plastic out of the Bay, and do NOT regularly recycle your beads because they get caught in the regular detangler machines and can shut down recycling processes for hours, possibly even days.

Free doughnuts, free admission and freedom from piles of plastic beads that you're going to throw away anyway.

USF will close starting tomorrow. "Residence halls and dining facilities at USF Tampa will remain open. The Marshall Student Center, USF Library, Campus Recreation Center, Student Health Services and the Counseling Center in Tampa will remain open through 6 p.m. Friday, but will close on Saturday and Sunday.

All USF Health clinics will remain open through Friday. "

Stay safe out there! If you need a place to go, don't hesitate to reach out to your colleagues in your lab or department, and be sure to know your evacuation zone (etc etc). Be prepared!

Everyone, please check your flood zone and get prepared. While Irma's predictions shifted eastward somewhat today, this is uncertain and we will be impacted regardless. Visit usf.edu for info about USF closing and be sure that you're enrolled in the MoBULL alerts as well. Stay safe!

Congratulations, Henry!
