Community Foundation Tampa Bay recently celebrated a $20,000 Competitive Grant to Premier Community HealthCare Group, Inc. with a check presentation and facility tour. Foundation staff and Nature Coast Council members visited the New Port Richey Family Health Center to learn more about Premier’s programs. The grant supports Premier’s Bright Smiles Early Learning Initiative, which engages children and their families in oral health education while expanding access to care throughout Pasco and Hernando counties.

On World Mental Health Day, Community Foundation Tampa Bay recognizes the importance of expanding access to mental health resources, reducing stigma, and ensuring individuals and families have the support they need.

Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing is one of the Foundation’s five focus areas for community investment, supporting nonprofits and programs that address mental health, trauma-informed care, basic needs, and overall wellness.

Beyond grantmaking, the Foundation is proud to partner with St. Petersburg College and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on the Mental Health First Aid Initiative, providing free training to eligible public service professionals across Tampa Bay. This program equips participants with the tools to recognize signs of mental health and substance use challenges, offer support, and connect individuals with resources.

Mental Health First Aid, known as the CPR of mental health, is a national certification through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Community Foundation Tampa Bay’s South Shore Council recently visited the Sun City Center Emergency Squad to celebrate a multi-year Opportunity Grant supporting the organization’s operations. The grant will provide $40,000 annually through 2028, helping the Squad continue providing vital emergency services to the community.

The visit also included a check presentation and an opportunity to learn more about the dedicated volunteers who make the Squad’s work possible.

All proceeds from the sales of her work benefit the Woodson Warrior Scholarship Program, an initiative of The Woodson African American Museum of Art.

At this year’s Florida Philanthropic Network (FPN) Community Foundation Retreat, members of our team exchanged ideas, strategies, and insights with peers from across the state while learning about the latest legislative developments and ways to better support Florida’s nonprofit communities.

As a statewide association of grantmakers, FPN strengthens philanthropy through research, education, and public policy. We’re grateful for their partnership and for bringing Florida’s philanthropic community together to learn from one another.
