For every moment of joy and wonder like this, our team puts in hours of behind-the-scenes work that make it possible.
Sorting donations, coordinating with schools. writing grants, reporting, loading (and unloading!) the bus. It’s not always glamorous, but moments like this make every bit of it worth it.

We’re endlessly grateful to our partners and volunteers who help us put books into the hands of kids who need them. This is why we do what we do.

This week we hosted 7 book parties for 938 book-loving readers across Maine. We reunited with old friends, made brand new ones, and celebrated the way we know best — book joy and ice cream! 🍦

Nine weeks. Countless smiles. One unforgettable summer.

Today we lost a woman whose generosity changed what is possible for millions of children.
Dolly Parton believed that every child, regardless of their family’s income or zip code, deserved to own books and build a home library. Through the Imagination Library, she turned that belief into millions of free books mailed directly into children’s hands since 1995 — one of the most significant literacy interventions in American history, built not on policy, but on one woman’s conviction that access to books is not a luxury.
Her voice may be gone, but her mission is not. We will keep showing up, book by book, family by family, because she taught an entire generation of literacy organizations that this work matters and that it is possible.
Thank you, Dolly. We will carry this forward.
