Hello Friends!

It’s been a little while since we’ve connected, but the good news is, My Hope Chest continues to work quietly behind the scenes, helping breast cancer survivors find the closure they deserve.

We continue to receive heartbreaking requests from women across the country who are still waiting for help, hope, and healing after breast cancer.

**Nicole’s Story**
“I have severe health problems and have been disabled since 2013. Last year, I had an X-ray that showed a spot needing further evaluation through a mammogram. It was cancer. I had an extensive lumpectomy in 2024. Now one breast is huge and one is tiny. I’m single and it’s embarrassing. I’ll never find someone to love me.”

Sadly, Nicole’s story is not uncommon.

As October and breast cancer month approaches, we ask you to do more than wear pink this year...Take ACTION! Join My Hope Chest in remembering the survivors waiting for life-changing breast reconstruction surgery and needing assistance with bills during the surgery process.

Thanks to our amazing donors at The Table at Madeley in Conroe, TX, and the Conroe Professional Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 2731 for hosting yet another amazing fundraiser for My Hope Chest, today we were able to give Brittany in Washington, DC some very good news for financial aid! Thanks again SO much for all that attended and the continued support from Texas.... you have no idea how good it makes US feel to gift the life changing dollars!!

A word from Brittany....
Receiving this grant just two days before my reconstruction surgery is incredibly impactful! As someone currently in recovery from breast cancer and facing significant medical expenses, the financial support will help ease the stress surrounding my upcoming reconstruction procedure and the $4,000 deductible I am responsible for.

This assistance will allow me to focus on healing rather than worrying about how I will cover the costs associated with my treatment and recovery. It would truly provide a sense of relief and support during a very vulnerable moment in my journey.

I am deeply grateful for the organizations that step in to help patients like me during such critical times.

Our mission, as the first breast reconstruction charity in America, helping breast cancer survivors for 23 years, is to make women feel whole again after mastectomy. Nothing has changed about the need, the waitlist and the impact we have made on a women's lives in America. NEED YOUR HELP:
Researchers at the University of Connecticut are seeking individuals with metastatic breast cancer to complete a 45-minute online survey for a a study about couples' intimacy, hoping to help identify communication practices for couples to manage the challenges of cancer on their relationship.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Eligible participants please complete this brief 5-minute screening survey: https://tinyurl.com/UConnMBCStudy

TO QUALIFY:
You may qualify to participate if you are someone who is:
1) A woman
2) Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer
3) 18 years of age or older
4) Located in the United States
5) In a romantic relationship of at least 3 months that currently or has previously involved sexual activity
6) Experiencing relational or sexual changes in the relationship due to cancer diagnosis and/or treatment
7) Willing to share experiences regarding your sexuality and sexual relationship with your partner, including how cancer may have influenced these aspects of your relationship
