The Funny Foundation

The Funny Foundation Help someone. Make a difference. Life sucks sometimes. Knowing someone is there for you makes it sooo much easier. That's where YOU come in! You beautiful, SOB.

Unfortunately, most find it tough to ask for help, so they struggle alone. Just look at you. The Funny Foundation is a not for profit community, with 2 basic core values:

SHARING and VOLUNTEERING

1. SHARE stories of someone you know who could use some help, and what we can specifically do.

2. VOLUNTEER to receive updates about those who have contacted us, and do your part (no matter how big or

small) to help anyway you can. SHARE by sending us a private message with the story of someone you know who is deserving of help in any way. Tell us specifically what we can do to help them the most, and a request will be sent out to our community of volunteers to help make it happen. (All messages private until agreed upon by all involved parties, of course)

VOLUNTEER by sending us a message with your:
1. Name
2. Best forms of contact.
3. Skills you can contribute (Event planning, singing, dancing, impressions, acting/costumed character, face/nail painting, balloon art, caricatures, etc. - Or the sheer desire to want to help others in need and bring smiles to their faces)
4. Ways you would like to contribute.
- Contribute from the couch. (Receive our updates on those in need, respond if you can contribute, or forward our update to a friend you know can help best. You can even just be there to talk and laugh with someone when they’re feeling down!)
- Contribute in person. (You love throwing/attending sweet parties so you can have an excuse to break out that Spiderman costume, or bringing your big smile to cool kids in need of an escape from the hospital by hanging out and playing video games all day)

Talents of previous in-person volunteers include: Singers, dancers, actors, event planners, face painters, balloon artists, impressionists, costumed character actors, etc. Best part is, everyone can sign up as a volunteer to receive updates! Being strangers to one another, just because there's no personal history, is something we allow ourselves to be. We all share this world, and the difficulties it brings. Sometimes we forget that those little barriers we naturally put up between new people are so easily broken. Once we forget how to build them, the world becomes a bigger and happier place. Always remember, every person you pass is now and again in need of a little pick me up. This little spinning ball of space dust wasn't made for you. It was made for us.

If you find yourself reading this, take a moment to think of the people you love. Those you're happy to be acquainted. Those you're familiar, but only know of their struggles.

Tonight, send us a message, nominating a particular person who comes to mind (and heart) that may be going through some tough times at the moment. Remember that we're all here to help as one, no matter how big or small the request.

We're only limited by our contributions as a community. Together, we can do anything. We can help anyone.

Looking forward to hearing from you all ❤️

There's nothing wrong with you.
You're freaking awesome. Why? Because you're YOU! And we love you for it, you gorgeous goose.

In case you've forgotten that... Don't let yourself struggle alone.

A 9-year-old boy was found dead in his West Virginia home after he apparently took his own life after months of torment by schoolmates, his devastated family said.

Here's another example of a way the Funny Foundation process works:

- Chris just lost his dad. His best friend in the whole world is gone. First he has to move to this new town, where he hasn't made any quality friends yet, and now the person who was always there to talk, is gone. Chris hasn't left his room in a while.
- After hearing about us from a friend, Chris' mother reaches out to us via Facebook. His mother tells us that Chris and his dad used to go to baseball games all the time back home, but watches it on TV every chance he gets.
- We share Chris' story with the community.
- Ray reads Chris' story and it seems too familiar. Ray lost his dad too, almost a year ago and has finally gotten through his own personal dark days. Ray responds to the email sent, and offers to give Chris a call and set up a time to grab coffee/talk.
- Dan is a season ticket holder to the Tampa Bay Rays, and can't make this weekend's game. He was going to scalp the tickets, but after reading the email he received about Chris, decides it's not worth the 30 bucks and donates his 2 seats.
- Stacy and her mom know a family friend who volunteers at Tropicana Field. After reading the post on the Funny Foundation FB page, they ask their friend to put in a good word with the promotional department, who makes sure the hype team in his section makes a special appearance with Chris during the 5th inning.
- George and his friends are already planning on going to the game! After seeing our video message about Chris on our Instagram, they extend an invitation for Chris and his guest to join them after the game at their favorite pub. They offer to all pitch in and take care of Chris' tab, while exchanging numbers at the end of the night to keep in touch and show Chris around town on another night.

Here's one example of a way the Funny Foundation process works:

- Julie is worried her daughter won't be able to have the Princess birthday party she's been talking about all year, ever since the treatments have started. Money has been tight, even with 2 jobs, and Julie wished she had the time to put together the party her daughter deserves.
- Her friend Sam notices her struggles and contacts us.
- We speak further with Sam to learn the details of her perfect Princess party, and share Julie's story with every person signed up for notifications within the community.
- Dana works at Publix and forwards Julie's story to her co-workers and managers. They put some money together and contribute a gift card to supply the party with some food, and management was kind enough to donate a Mulan cake.
- Taylor has a friend who works with a Princess Party company from time to time. She speaks with her friend, who speaks to the owner, who finds an employee willing to donate their time as Ariel for the party.
- John doesn't have the means to contribute financially, so he donates his time to help set up on the day of the party.
- 20 people also RSVP'd as guests to make the party a blast, while introducing Julie's daughter to their children of the same age.

New friends, and an awesome escape for a deserving kid and mother.
