North Carolina lawmakers are now requesting a criminal review into the handling of the Dominique Moody case after a state review identified serious concerns regarding Mecklenburg County DSS.

According to the review, multiple reports containing indicators of abuse and neglect involving Dominique Moody did not result in adequate intervention. The case has intensified scrutiny of Mecklenburg County DSS and raised broader concerns regarding systemic failures within the child welfare system, including allegations of inadequate investigations, missed warning signs, deficient safety assessments, and failures to properly respond to repeated reports involving vulnerable children.

When multiple reports are made and warning signs are documented, the public deserves answers. Families deserve accountability. Most importantly, children deserve protection.

The questions remain: What went wrong, who knew, and what reforms are necessary to ensure this never happens again?

Justice for Dominique Moody means more than identifying failures. It means fixing the system that allowed those failures to occur.

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME
Karmelo Anthony was 17 years old. Whether people agree with the verdict or not, he was still a teenager with a developing brain who claimed he acted out of fear during a confrontation that escalated in seconds. A jury convicted him, and he received a 35-year prison sentence.
Decarlos Brown was a grown man with an established criminal history who had previously been found competent to stand trial in other criminal proceedings. He was accused of an unprovoked killing and, according to testimony and reports presented in court, made statements afterward that prosecutors argued reflected his state of mind following the homicide.
What many people struggle to understand is how a teenager can receive a decades-long prison sentence while an adult with a lengthy criminal history is later deemed incompetent to proceed in court after having previously been found competent in other cases.
These are different legal cases governed by different legal standards. Competency is a legal determination based on a defendant's present ability to understand the proceedings and assist counsel. It is not necessarily a permanent finding. However, the public is still entitled to ask questions about consistency and accountability within the justice system.
Justice should be fair. Justice should be consistent. Justice should not depend on who the defendant is.
A 17-year-old was sentenced to spend much of his adult life in prison.
An adult career offender accused of taking an innocent life raises questions about competency after previously navigating the criminal justice system.
Whether one agrees or disagrees with either outcome, the public has a right to examine the facts, ask hard questions, and expect accountability from the courts.
Victims deserve justice. Defendants deserve due process. The public deserves consistency.

Our loyalty is not to race. Our loyalty is not to politics. Our loyalty is not to cultural pressure.
Our loyalty is to Christ above all else.
Every human being is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, value, and respect. As Christians, we cannot celebrate evil, excuse wrongdoing, or promote hatred based on the color of someone's skin.
Isaiah 5:20 warns us:
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness."
Biblical justice requires consistency. Truth does not change based on race, popularity, political affiliation, or public opinion. We are called to stand for righteousness, justice, mercy, and love of neighbor, even when doing so is unpopular.
The Church must reject racial hatred, selective outrage, and tribalism. Our identity is found in Jesus Christ alone.
Truth. Justice. Love.
That is our calling.

HEAVEN WEEPS AS HUMANITY CHOOSES HATRED OVER LOVE, VIOLENCE OVER PEACE, AND PRIDE OVER REPENTANCE."
"THE LORD IS PATIENT, BUT JUSTICE IS COMING."
"RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE." — Proverbs 14:34
"EVERY LIFE HAS VALUE. EVERY SOUL MATTERS. EVERY DEED WILL BE JUDGED."
"THERE IS ONE HUMAN RACE. WE ARE ALL ACCOUNTABLE TO THE SAME GOD."
"HEAVEN IS NOT DIVIDED BY RACE. WHY IS EARTH?"
"WHEN JUSTICE IS MOCKED, INNOCENT BLOOD CRIES OUT."
"THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE."
"THE KING IS COMING. CHOOSE RIGHTEOUSNESS."
"YOU WILL NOT STAND BEFORE GOD AS BLACK, WHITE, BROWN, OR RED. YOU WILL STAND BEFORE HIM AS A SOUL."

Not going to side with any of you. Not doing this race narrative BS either. Taking a life requires consequences. In this case murder and 35 years is not right at all and unjust. This was manslaughter.

The verdict has been rendered, but the conversation is far from over.
Many believe the facts presented at trial were more consistent with manslaughter under Texas Penal Code § 19.04 than with an intentional murder conviction. Manslaughter occurs when a person recklessly causes the death of another, while murder requires proof of intentional conduct.
This case involved a sudden confrontation, fear, and a split-second decision. The law recognizes that fear can be relevant, but that fear must be objectively reasonable under the circumstances.
Questions also remain about whether the defense received effective legal representation and whether all available defenses and legal strategies were fully presented to the jury.
Supporting victims' rights and seeking accountability are not mutually exclusive with asking difficult questions about due process, effective counsel, and whether justice was properly served.
Justice requires that we follow the facts, not emotions, politics, or public pressure.
Do you believe the evidence supported murder, or was this a case that more closely fit the legal definition of manslaughter?
