During the process of creation, it’s important to pause, appreciate how far you’ve come, notice what’s taking shape and allow pleasure in the process.
The Center is part of Tampa Arts Alliance’s vision to bolster infrastructure for our local arts ecosystem.
In October, we secured a generous multi-year, zero-dollar lease commitment in the heart of Downtown Tampa. In the nine months since, we’ve secured more than $1.7 million in funding commitments over the next five years.
Getting here has taken tremendous generosity, goodwill and partnership. More than 140 donors, funders and community partners, alongside professionals lending their expertise, have helped move an ambitious idea toward something tangible.
There is still significant work ahead. Creating an arts center inside an existing downtown office tower is complex, and we’re working through critical agreements and pre-permitting coordination while moving toward construction.
We remain pulled forward by a vision for a Center that showcases local artists while integrating best practices and perspectives from international talent. A place to strengthen creative businesses, connect the larger community with work being made by their neighbors, and build crucial relationships with elected officials and governing bodies so the impact and value of the arts are represented in decisions affecting our city.
