TAMPA — The Sports Club of Tampa Bay will honor one of its most recent Hall of Fame inductees, former Tampa Bay Lightning head coach John Tortorella, with a special luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 29 from noon to 2 p.m., at the Stovall House’s Hunt Room, 4621 Bayshore Blvd.
Tortorella was unable to attend the club’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony last June 5 — for good reason. He was busy. He had been lured out of retirement in the late season by the Vegas Golden Knights, then promptly guided them into the Stanley Cup Finals, where they fell in six games to the Carolina Panthers.

Tortorella, ninth all-time in National Hockey League coaching victories (777), secured his spot in Tampa Bay’s sports history when the Lightning won the 2004 Stanley Cup, the first of the franchise’s three NHL championships. Tortorella won 239 games, two Southeast Division titles and four playoff appearances in eight seasons with the Lightning.

A few photos from our Sports Club of Tampa Bay 42nd Annual Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, June 3rd, 2026, at Higgins Hall. It was an amazing and moving evening about faith, family and giving back to a sold-out crowd. Special thanks to our generous sponsors, guests, Hall of Fame Committee, and our Board of Directors. More photos to follow. We welcome new members. Check us out at sportscluboftampabay.org
