The Empowered Abilities Foundation is looking for enthusiastic volunteers for our Fall 2026 adaptive baseball season! We are on a mission to ensure every participant has the support they need to experience the joy of the game—and we need 1–2 volunteers per player to make it happen.

**How You Can Help as a One-on-One "Buddy":**

* Play on-field positions alongside participants
* Catch pitched balls and provide underhand pitching
* Run the bases with players
* Provide direct encouragement and assistance (including direct support for players with medical diagnoses)

Hello social media followers, we’re excited to announce that the rebranded Miracle By The Bay, now known as the Empowered Abilities Foundation, is kicking off its first official program of the year—our Baseball League for ages 10 to 50! Opening day is tomorrow at Azalea Park in Saint Petersburg, located at 1600 72nd St North. Media members, we’d love to see you there.

Here’s the run of show for the day:
9:00 AM – Staff arrival to set up tents, tables, check-in stations, and field equipment.
9:15 AM – Volunteer briefing with final review of roles, schedule, and safety procedures.
9:30 AM – Player arrival and check-in; jerseys and hats distributed with upbeat music.
9:40 AM – Player warm-ups on the field.
9:45 AM – Mayor Welch arrives.
9:55 AM – Teams line up for the opening ceremony procession.
10:00 AM – Welcome and introductions by Shawn (MC).
10:01 AM – Matt introduces Mayor Welch.
10:02 AM – Opening remarks by Mayor Welch (2-minute max).
10:04 AM – National Anthem performed.
10:05 AM – Ceremonial first pitch by Mayor Welch and Matt.
10:10 AM – First game of the season begins.
11:30 AM – Water break with food and drinks for players and families.

⚾️ Step Up to the Plate: Opening Day Volunteers Needed! ⚾️
We would like to introduce to you the Empower Abilities Baseball League. This is a league specifically for special needs individuals with various disabilities, ages 10 to 50. Formerly known as Miracle by the Bay Baseball, we have completely rebranded with a whole new name, a whole new look, and a whole new structure!

We are looking for "Buddies" to ensure our players stay safe, focused, and—most importantly—have a blast. Our goal is to have a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio for every player. Whether it’s giving a verbal cue to catch a fly ball or sprinting around the bases together, you’ll be the MVP behind the scenes.

🗓️ Opening Day Schedule: April 11, 2026
We have a big morning planned! Here is the official Run of Show:

7:45 AM – 8:00 AM: Field Setup (6-8 volunteers needed!)

8:30 AM – 8:45 AM: Player/Volunteer Check-in (Equipment prep & wristbanding)

9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Initial Practice & Warm-ups

9:58 AM: National Anthem 🇺🇸

10:02 AM: Remarks by City Officials

10:05 AM: PLAY BALL! Games officially start

12:00 PM: Game completion and breakdown

Note: Opening Day Run of Show is subject to change.

🤝 Why We Need You:
Safety is our top priority. We need volunteers to:

Be a Safety Buddy: Step in front of a player or provide a verbal cue if they don't see a ball coming.

Base Running: Help participants navigate the diamond.

Fielding: Assist in the outfield (positions at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, SS, CF, and LF).

📅 Can’t make it April 11th?
No problem! The league runs every Saturday from April 11 through May 16. We need 10+ volunteers every single week to keep our players safe and smiling.
