Looking back, I often reflect on the questions we ask those who are struggling.

When we replace judgment with curiosity, we create space for understanding.

Christine Ortoll Charity was born from the greatest loss of my life—losing my daughter, Christine, to a fentanyl overdose.

Before she passed, Christine said:

"I do not want to be defined by my disease but remembered for helping those with it."

Those words became our mission.

We create films that do more than raise awareness—they inspire hope, reduce stigma, and help people understand addiction, trauma, and mental health.

Our award-winning documentary One Second at a Time has won 67 film festival awards and reached 1 million+ viewers, while Safety Net highlights the importance of college recovery programs.

Today, we're focused on two national initiatives:
🎓 Expanding college recovery programs.
🌱 Providing prevention-focused emotional resiliency resources for schools and families.

All of our media is free on YouTube.

Please watch, share, and help us reach someone who needs hope today. And if our mission speaks to you, consider supporting our work so we can continue creating stories that change lives.

💛 Together, we can create hope. One Second at a Time.

I'm asking my network to help expand the reach of Christine Ortoll Charity.

Not for attention.

For impact.

Somewhere, there's a parent searching for answers.
A student in recovery who feels alone.
A family grieving in silence.
A young person hiding trauma, anxiety, or addiction because shame tells them they're broken.

That's why we created Christine Ortoll Charity.

After losing my daughter, Christine, to a fentanyl overdose, I promised her story would not end in silence.

She once said:

"I do not want to be defined by my disease but remembered for helping those with it."

Those words became our mission.

Today, we create award-winning films and recovery stories that inspire hope, reduce stigma, and remind people that recovery is possible.

Our work focuses on:
🎓 Building college recovery programs.
🌱 Bringing emotional resiliency and prevention resources to schools and families.

Now we want to reach even more people.

Please watch our media, share our YouTube channel, follow Christine Ortoll Charity, and, if you can, consider donating.

One view can plant hope.
One share can reach the right person.
One story can change a life.

💛 Together, we can create hope. One Second at a Time.

College should be a place where students grow, heal, learn, and build a future.

But for students in recovery, college can also be one of the most dangerous environments they face.

The pressure to fit in.

The drinking culture. The isolation. The fear of being different.

That is why college recovery programs matter.

**Safety Net: Helping College Students in Recovery Thrive** was created to showcase what happens when students in recovery are supported instead of isolated.

Through Christine Ortoll Charity, and with the support of students, faculty, alumni, and advocates at Florida State University, we helped build FSU’s college recovery program from **zero students three years ago** to reaching more than **2,000 students today**.

That is the power of community. That is the power of alumni engagement.

That is the power of believing students in recovery deserve more than survival — they deserve the chance to thrive.

College recovery programs help students stay connected, accountable, and supported. Research shows these programs are associated with stronger student outcomes, including higher GPAs, greater chances of graduation, lower relapse risk, and a stronger likelihood of becoming productive graduates who give back to their schools, families, and communities.

Students should not have to choose between their recovery and their education. They should be able to pursue both.

Please watch **Safety Net** free on our YouTube channel and share it with colleges, alumni groups, parents, student affairs leaders, recovery advocates, and anyone who believes every campus should support students in recovery.

People are more than their mistakes.

Too often, we define someone by their lowest point, their hardest day, or their worst decision. But healing begins when we choose compassion over judgment and possibility over labels.

Every person deserves the chance to grow, recover, and become more than their past.

Let's believe in who people can become. 💛
