This month’s Death Café – Tampa is an open conversation.

No single topic.
No right answer.
No pressure to have the perfect words.

Just space for the questions, stories, fears, humor, and reflections that come up when we talk honestly about death and life.

What has been on your mind lately about death, grief, love, legacy, or living fully?

Maybe it’s something personal.
Maybe it’s something philosophical.
Maybe it’s a question you’ve never had the right place to ask.

This is that place.

At Death Café, we talk often about memory, legacy, grief, and the ways we continue to honor those who are no longer with us.

This Memorial Day, we invite our community to join Rose Hill Memorial Park and VFW Post 424 for a special Memorial Day Observance honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

The ceremony will include an Honor Guard Ceremony, a changing of the flag, and a time of remembrance for our fallen heroes.

Tonight’s question is simple. The answers probably won’t be.

Is closure real or something we invented?

Tonight at Death Café, we’re talking about the word people love to use after loss: closure.

Who gets to decide when grief is “closed”?
What if love keeps the door open?
What if healing is not an ending, but a different relationship with what happened?

Join us tonight for a thoughtful, honest conversation at the Guinn Center.

Tomorrow’s conversation may ruin the phrase “finding closure” for you.

In the best way.

We’re gathering for Death Café to ask a question most of us have heard after a loss, but maybe haven’t really challenged:

“Is closure real or something we invented?”

Maybe closure is peace.
Maybe it’s acceptance.
Maybe it’s a myth.
Maybe grief does not close at all — maybe it just teaches us how to carry love differently.

You do not need the perfect words. You do not need a big story. Listening counts too.

Hot take: “closure” might be one of the strangest things we expect from grief.

People say things like, “I hope you find closure.”

But what does that actually mean?
Does it mean the pain ends?
Does it mean the questions stop?
Does it mean we finally accept what happened?
Or does it just mean we learned how to keep living with love that has nowhere new to go?

This Wednesday, we’re talking about it:
“Is closure real or something we invented?”
