A little over a month ago, our community came together for GLOW and showed what’s possible when people unite around mental well-being.

From the immersive wellness experiences and resource activations to exploring the Dalí Museum after hours, every element of the evening brought Tampa Bay Thrives' mission to life. Guests didn’t just hear about our work, they experienced it.

We were inspired by remarks from the Mayor of St. Petersburg and Gail Ryder of BayCare, energized by Thaddeus Bullard’s leadership as emcee, and moved when he challenged the room with a $20,000 matching gift. The community answered the call.

By the end of the night, nearly $200,000 had been raised to support mental health and well-being across Tampa Bay.

As we look back on GLOW, we're reminded that real change happens when a community chooses to show up for one another. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a powerful reflection of what we can achieve together. 💚

Puppies, yoga, and meaningful connection! What a way to kick off Together Tampa Bay's first community event.

This weekend, we partnered with Mercy Full Project to bring people together for a morning of movement, conversation, and puppy cuddles. While the puppies may have been the main attraction, the real goal was creating space for connection.

Together Tampa Bay was created to help combat social isolation and make it easier for people to find belonging in our community. Events like Yoga + Puppies remind us that connection doesn't have to be complicated, it can start with showing up, sharing a smile, meeting someone new, or spending time with a furry friend.

A huge thank you to Mercy Full Project for partnering with us and for the incredible work they do every day and thank you to everyone who joined us for this special first event. Your presence helped turn a simple morning into a community experience.

This is just the beginning. Tampa Bay, we're excited to connect with you.

"In the past year, 67% of Florida youth with major depressive episodes did not receive treatment.

Numbers like these, and the risks and issues they expose, are at the heart of what drives the efforts of Tampa Bay Thrives, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving mental health access and awareness in the Tampa Bay community.

It’s part of a systems-based approach by Tampa Bay Thrives to strengthen student mental health and provide a supportive environment where students can unplug and access resources and activities to help them manage anxiety, conflict and other challenges."

We live in one of the most connected times in history yet more people than ever are experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General declared loneliness and social isolation a public health epidemic, reporting that lacking social connection can be as harmful to health as smoking up to 15 ci******es a day. The report also linked social isolation to increased risks of anxiety, depression, heart disease, dementia, and premature death.

Together Tampa Bay is a community movement focused on helping people feel more connected, supported, and seen through simple, everyday human interaction. We believe meaningful connection shouldn’t be rare or difficult to find. Whether it’s introducing someone to a new group, starting a conversation, inviting someone into a social activity, or simply helping people feel welcomed, small moments can make a lasting impact.

To help bring this movement into the community, we’re launching the Together Tampa Bay Street Team.

By making a $50 pledge, you’ll receive an official Street Team package that includes:

• A Together Tampa Bay t-shirt
• Stickers to share throughout the community
• Information about social isolation and simple ways to help combat it in everyday life

Street Team members become advocates for connection across Tampa Bay. Wear your shirt while out with friends, at local events, coffee shops, fitness classes, parks, or community spaces. Share stickers, spark conversations, help make introductions, and create welcoming moments wherever you go.

Together Tampa Bay is built on one simple idea: connection starts with us.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it also serves as Military Appreciation Month — a meaningful reminder to recognize the service and sacrifice of veterans, and also the mental and emotional experiences that can come with military life and the transition afterward.

For many veterans, returning to civilian life can bring unexpected challenges: identity shifts, isolation, uncertainty, and the pressure of figuring out what comes next. These experiences are deeply personal and often go unspoken, which is why conversations around veteran mental health matter.

This week, Aaron shares his story.

After serving in the Navy as a Navy Nuke, Aaron opens up about the realities of transitioning out of military life and navigating the emotional weight that can come with rebuilding routines, rediscovering identity, and finding support in a completely different environment.

Stories like Aaron’s help remind us that mental health journeys look different for everyone and that support, connection, and understanding can make a meaningful difference. As we approach Memorial Day, this month serves as an important opportunity to create more space for honest conversations around veteran mental health and the experiences many carry long after service ends.

Thank you to 200 Muslim Women Who Care for supporting Tampa Bay Thrives’ Wellness Rooms in schools across Tampa Bay. Because of your generosity, more students will have access to spaces designed to help them reset, recharge, and take care of their mental well-being during the school day.

What’s especially beautiful about this support is that it reaches students in such a real, everyday way. A quiet moment. A calming space. A reminder that someone cares. Those small moments can change the course of a student’s day.

We’re so grateful to have community partners like you helping us build a Tampa Bay where mental wellness is supported openly, compassionately, and creatively. Thank you for showing up for our students in such a meaningful way

For Mental Health Awareness Month, Together Tampa Bay and Mercy Full Project are hosting Yoga + Puppies!

In a world where more people are experiencing loneliness and social isolation, creating spaces to simply gather, connect, and be present with others has never been more important. Together Tampa Bay, an initiative of Tampa Bay Thrives, was created to help foster meaningful connection and build “third spaces” — places outside of home and work where community can grow naturally.

This special event brings together gentle yoga, adorable puppies, and community connection for an experience designed to help you slow down, meet new people, and support your well-being. Research continues to show that spending time with animals can help reduce stress, lower anxiety, boost mood, and create feelings of comfort and companionship. Combined with movement and shared community experiences, even small moments of connection can have a meaningful impact on mental health.
