"Granny flats" are a big deal for aging in place. 🏡

ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) are the gentle density solution that lets our seniors stay in the neighborhoods they love.

âś… Privacy & proximity for family care
âś… Financial stability on a fixed income
âś… The choice to age with dignity in Tampa

Let's build a city for all stages of life. Supporting ADUs means supporting our neighbors.

Our zoning is broken. đźš«

Tampa's restrictive laws ban the very types of homes that create natural affordability—duplexes, townhomes, and small apartments.

By outlawing this "Missing Middle" housing, we artificially limit supply and drive up prices for everyone.

Let's fix our rules, allow more choices, and build a more affordable Tampa.

We're not just building buildings. We're building community. 🤝

Missing Middle Housing creates homes for the people who make Tampa run: teachers, nurses, baristas, and seniors. Our current rules make it impossible for them to live in the neighborhoods they serve.

It's time for zoning that welcomes neighbors.

What if your parents could age in place, right in your backyard?

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) make "aging in place" a reality. These "granny flats" provide a dignified, independent, and affordable way for seniors to stay in their community, close to family and support.

Let's make it easier to build these and keep our loved ones in Tampa. ❤️

Advocacy Moment: Getting around downtown Tampa is about to get easier! The Morgan Street Quick Build Project will add separated bike lanes from Brorein St. to Harrison St., creating the first north–south route through downtown that connects the Green Spine to the Selmon Greenway — with smoother access to Water Street, Tampa Heights, and beyond.

It’s not just good for cyclists — the project will also make walking safer with shorter crossings and better separation from cars. A true win-win for everyone walking and rolling!

A public meeting is planned for December, and we encourage your early support and feedback: [email protected]

The data is on the table. The crisis is undeniable.

Now is the time to make sure our city leaders know we support ACTION. They have the report showing we need 26,000+ affordable homes.

Take 2 minutes: Email your City Council member and the Mayor. Tell them you support bold and essential policies like upzoning, faster permitting, and more funding for affordable housing.

A louder voice from us means faster change. 🗣️

🚨 A new city report reveals Tampa has a shocking shortage of over 26,000 affordable homes. To tackle this, city leaders plan to use the data to push for zoning reforms and public-private partnerships.

The new Marquee Square complex is a start, but we need many more projects like it.

What if the key to affordability has been illegal for decades? 🔑

Our outdated zoning rules ban the diverse, walkable homes—like duplexes and courtyard apartments—that used to be the backbone of our city. This "Missing Middle" is the housing we desperately need.

Let's make them legal again. ➡️

🚨 Act Now: Save HART Transit from Collapse 🚨

YIMBY Tampa urges the HART Board to vote YES on May 5, 2025, to update its charter and unlock funding for transit. Here’s why:

đź“… The Vote:
On May 5, 2025, the HART Board will decide whether to raise its 45-year-old funding cap from 0.5 mills to 1 mill. This does not raise taxes now—it simply allows future discussions. Without this, HART faces devastating 2028 service cuts: fewer routes, layoffs, and reduced access for riders.

🔍 Why It’s Critical:

-HART’s budget has been frozen since 1979—unable to keep up with growth or inflation.

-Transit is a lifeline for workers, students, and families. Cuts hurt our most vulnerable.

-A “Yes” vote lets HART seek voter-approved funding in 2026. A “No” vote guarantees collapse.

🚌 What Happens Next?

May 5: HART Board votes to update the charter.

2025-26: Cities and BOCC review the plan.

Nov 2026: Voters decide on funding.

✊ Act Today:

Sign the Petition: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/hart-board-charter/

⏳ Time is Running Out!
If HART’s charter isn’t updated, we lose this chance for decades. Let’s build a Tampa where everyone can thrive—starting with reliable transit.
