This guy and his iron strong will and perseverance are the foundations of The Creators Lounge idea. Bryan has been an inspiration to me since I met him nearly 10 years ago now. If you're looking for a prime example of success through hope and hard work, look no further than De La Mesa Farms and it's founders.
I didn’t plan any of this.
I didn’t plan on coming back to Washington.
I didn’t plan on my mother’s terminal cancer diagnosis.
I didn’t plan on becoming my mother’s full time caretaker after her su***de attempt.
But life doesn’t wait for you to be ready.
It hands you pain, grief, responsibility — and dares you to stand back up.
At the same time I was helping my mother fight for her life,
I was raising a family.
Building a farm.
Opening a new farm store/tortilleria
Trying to keep my own heart from breaking apart.
There were days when it felt impossible.
Days when the trauma from my past — the gangs, the m**h and heroine addiction, the chaos — tried to pull me under again.
But somehow, through faith, grit, and a dream bigger than my pain,
I kept showing up.
For her.
For my family.
For my community.
For the life I believe in.
Today, our farm is growing.
My family is healing.
And I’m still healing too.
This journey isn’t just about farming.
It’s about breaking cycles.
Choosing love over fear.
Choosing growth over survival.
Choosing to believe that sometimes, the life you build out of brokenness is stronger than anything you lost.
I shared more of my story with Bold Journey.
If you’re fighting silent battles nobody else sees — just know, you’re not alone.
You are not broken.
You are becoming.
