The difference a grant can make. đź’ś
We continue to hear how our hurricane relief grants provided critical support after Hurricanes Milton and Helene devastated the Tampa Bay area.
One family’s story stands out: a U.S. Army veteran, his wife, and their four children moved to Florida for a fresh start. When Hurricane Milton struck, their home lost power for five days, spoiling all their food. Soon after, the father lost his job, and the family faced eviction, food insecurity, and the challenge of caring for their eldest daughter, who uses a wheelchair.
With support from SVdP CARES and our hurricane relief grant, they were able to replace furniture, secure food, and create a safe, stable home again. The father is now tutoring while applying for full-time teaching jobs, working hard to regain stability for his family.
Relief efforts also restocked the St. Petersburg food pantry, replaced lost essentials, and helped households across five counties stabilize after the storms.
We’re grateful to partner with organizations like St. Vincent de Paul CARES, whose boots-on-the-ground efforts bring hope and tangible support to families in crisis. 💜
