We are especially proud that our very own WCC Secretary, Melissa Ley, is the President and Founder of FUELS! 💛 Her vision and leadership are making a tremendous impact by empowering educators and enriching the lives of students across Tampa Bay.

This week, Inclusiveology and Florida's Unique Education Learning Support began their 3 part series on helping teachers with learning tools and supports to help kids with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia (or characteristics of).

Our first session on Dyslexia really showed us how many kids are struggling with decoding and frustrated with a high cognitive load. I am truly thankful for all of the teachers from both public and private schools that spent part of their evening with us. 💙

So what actually happens when a teacher asks FUELS for help?

It starts with something simple:

We listen.

An educator completes our request form and tells us what they need, who the resource will support and why it matters for their classroom.

FUELS reviews the request. When it qualifies and funding is available, we purchase the approved resource, most often online, and have it shipped directly to the educator.

Then comes our favorite part.

We start receiving the photos, videos and updates showing us where that request landed. 💛

Sometimes it's books.

Sometimes it's sensory tools.

Sometimes it's classroom materials, clothing, snacks or something we never could have predicted ourselves.

That's exactly the point.

FUELS isn't here to tell educators what their classrooms need. Educators tell us.

Our job is to listen, help remove the barrier and bring a community of supporters together to make more of those requests possible.

🎉 Congratulations to two members of the FUELS leadership team!
We are proud to celebrate Co-Founder and Executive Director Melissa Ley and Board Director Kerri Dolan-Haire, who recently completed their Certificates in Grant Writing through the Nonprofit Leadership Academy at the Nonprofit Leadership Center.
Their commitment to continued learning helps strengthen FUELS’ ability to pursue funding opportunities, share our impact, and grow the resources needed to support the individuals and communities we serve.
Melissa and Kerri Ann each completed their courses with different instructors and fellow nonprofit professionals, gaining practical skills they can bring back to FUELS and put into action.
Thank you to the instructors, classmates, and the entire Nonprofit Leadership Center team for creating such valuable learning experiences. Please join us in congratulating Melissa and Kerri on this accomplishment! 💙

Sometimes, the biggest impact starts with the resources that make everyday moments possible. 💛

At Evans High School, Adrienne Hassan, College & Career Specialist, is helping students prepare for what comes next, and support from the FUELS organization is helping make that work possible.

From printer ink and laminating supplies to materials for awards events, these donations support the behind-the-scenes work that helps create meaningful experiences for students throughout the school year.

And as Adrienne shares her unboxing and looks back at previous Academic Decision Day moments, it’s a reminder that supporting college and career readiness is about more than one event, it’s about giving students the tools, opportunities, and encouragement they need along the way.
