🌟 Gratitude Beyond Words: A Big Thank You to Our Donors!!
Dear Family and Friends,

We are overjoyed to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who contributed to our PD Catheter Project for Infants. Your unwavering prayers and support has been the driving force behind this incredible journey.

🌱 We started this project with a vision, a dream to make a difference in the lives of infants in need of peritoneal dialysis. With your generosity, we carried this project as far as we could, breaking boundaries, and pushing the limits of what was thought possible.

🏥 Today, we are thrilled to announce that we have reached a pivotal milestone! Our project was handed over to the capable hands of Indiana and Purdue University, who will take it to the finish line as they see fit. This collaboration with these esteemed institutions ensures that our mission to provide life-saving care for these precious infants continues to thrive and evolve.

Your donations have created a ripple effect that will positively affect countless lives. 🙌🏼

Our mission remains strong, and our hearts are full of gratitude for your incredible support.

Thank you for believing in our cause and being an essential part of this journey. Together, we have taken a giant step toward making the world a better place for those who need it the most.

With profound appreciation,

Silent Guardian-Angels, Inc.

A child with kidney disease needs a special diet to stay healthy.

Poor growth and appropriate weight gain are two major nutrition problems for children with kidney failure, so diet is individualized for each child and usually not restricted unless needed. The goals of feeding a child with kidney disease are to ensure normal growth and protect his/her health as much as possible.

With peritoneal dialysis, your child needs to eat more protein and limit some high phosphorus foods and high sodium (salt) foods. Your child will need a special vitamin supplement made for people on dialysis to replace the vitamins lost during dialysis. Infant formula may need to have extra protein or calories added to it.

The exact cause of renal agenesis in newborns is not known. Most cases of renal agenesis are not inherited from the parents, nor do they result from any behavior by the mother. Some cases, however, are caused by genetic mutations. These mutations are passed on from parents who either have the disorder or are carriers of the mutated gene. Prenatal testing can often help determine if these mutations are present.

Since the exact cause of URA and BRA is not known, prevention is not possible. Genetic factors can’t be changed. Prenatal counseling can help prospective parents understand the risks of having a baby with renal agenesis.

We exist to support families facing impossible odds.

We are delighted to share with you our patent-pending helical peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter project. With this new type of catheter, we want to reduce the risk of occlusions and process failures in peritoneal dialysis for infants, which will minimize the need for more invasive surgeries.

How is renal agenesis diagnosed?

Sonographic findings can be used to distinguish between the two kinds of renal agenesis.

When one formed kidney is larger than usual for the gestational age, unilateral renal agenesis is present.

Sonographic data that shows complete or severe amniotic fluid depletion at 14–16 weeks can be used to detect bilateral renal agenesis. The inability to visualize the fetal bladder after 16 weeks of pregnancy should prompt further investigation into bilateral renal agenesis.

It might be distressing to learn that your child may not have both kidneys as a parent, but currently, the Renal Anhydramnios Fetal Therapy (RAFT) Trial is testing an experimental treatment to help the fetus's lungs grow enough so he or she can survive after birth.

By reducing one body function and transplanting the donor's immune system, scientists have significantly reduced the risk of organ transplant rejection, which could improve the survival rates for children.

Post-transplant organ rejection is a significant problem that science has not yet fully solved. Immunosuppressive medications are prescribed to organ recipients in order to prevent rejections, but doing so significantly raises their chance of contracting certain diseases.

Researchers at Stanford University and their associates have developed a new method for doing organ transplants that reduces the possibility of organ rejection. Prior to transplanting the organ, the researchers performed a procedure known as dual immune/solid organ transplant (DISOT) to transfer the donor's immune system into the host's body. This is usually achieved by transplanting the stem cells from the donor's bone marrow to the host's.

“These kidneys are going to last forever,” one researcher said.

On this , we are especially grateful for all of your generous donations.🎉🥰

Your financial gift will make a huge difference in achieving our mission of providing financial and emotional support to families who have been denied the third option in life, as well as developing a new type of peritoneal dialysis catheter that will reduce the risk of occlusions and process failures in newborns.

Words do not seem enough to say how much we appreciate your support and we hope that it makes you smile and know that we are grateful for all that you have done.

We share these brave families because they are heroes, you can too! If you would like to join us in our cause, send us a message, email us at [email protected] or go to https://silentguardianangels.com/donate/"

When you love your kidneys, you take steps to ensure that they are healthy. Kidneys are equally important as other major organs since they are master chemists.

Kidneys perform a wide range of complex functions, including filtering waste and excess fluid from the blood, regulating blood pressure, helping in the production of red blood cells, and controlling important hormones and minerals. An ounce of prevention might mean a TON of cure when it comes to kidney disease. Put your heart and soul into renal health!

A kidney transplant is an operation where doctors put a new kidney in the body of someone whose own kidneys no longer work. One healthy kidney will do the work of two failed kidneys. Because people can survive with one kidney, a living person can give a healthy kidney to someone with kidney failure (this is called being a donor). A kidney can also come from a donor who has recently died, but the wait for this kind of donated kidney can often take a year or more.

Renal transplantation is the treatment of choice for children with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) with a history of EPRA and should be performed as soon as it is technically possible. Early transplant is recommended to avoid cardiovascular morbidity and infection risk associated with long-term dialysis. Size at the time of transplant varies, with some centers transplanting infants as small as 5 kg, but most providers aim for a transplant once the child is > 10 kg. Living donor transplants demonstrate improved graft survival in infants than those from deceased donors, especially if the donor is a parent. (https://bit.ly/3MBHbiB)

Bilateral renal agenesis (BRA) is a rare and life-threatening disease that affects one in every 3000 to 4000 pregnancies. The lack of amniotic fluid causes deadly pulmonary hypoplasia, which is linked to a high prevalence of perinatal morbidity and mortality.
