This past weekend, a collaborative project between over 12 SAFE Alliance partners that has been over a year in the making came to fruition! The 2026 Elevating Leadership Conference was originally designed to be a professional and leadership opportunity just for survivors of human trafficking across the state of Florida. It quickly became a national conference, with attendees from around the country coming to learn from the trailblazing and inspiring powerhouse that is Rebecca Bender.

Friends, we need your support!

Our very own Kim Figueroa, a beloved and highly respected survivor leader in the Tampa Bay Metro Area, has been nominated for the Annual Liberator Awards – Survivor of the Year!

Kim is incredibly deserving of this honor for her relentless dedication to helping victims escape human trafficking in Tampa Bay. She has used her lived experience, expertise, and deep knowledge to assist the FBI, local law enforcement, the judicial system, DCF, and many other agencies in their fight against trafficking.

Beyond her advocacy, Kim selflessly volunteers her time mentoring youth in foster care, serves on five local human trafficking boards, and is an Advisory Leader in the movement. She has completed 120+ hours of Human Trafficking (HT) and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) training, along with multiple certifications. With two years of Bible College and a certificate in ministry, Kim’s passion remains steadfast: to fight human trafficking and serve alongside organizations with the same mission.

✨ Here’s how you can help Kim receive the recognition she deserves:
✅ Vote up to 3 times for Kim – Voting closes February 16th at 11:59 PM EST.

It was an honor to attend the amazing SAM (Student Abolitionist Movement) Summit put on by our partner today! Over a hundred students convened not only to learn about the issue of human trafficking, but also about how they can use their own talents and voices to raise awareness and create change. Congratulations, for an inspiring and amazing event!
I had the distinct pleasure to introduce a student from our own Pasco County, who started a club at her local high school called teens battle trafficking, supported by the Pasco County Commission on Human Trafficking ( ) who guided her club and helped to bring her awareness campaign to life. Congratulations to Meghna on an amazing presentation to high school students about how to do the same and create impact on their school campuses and in their communities!
There is much to do, but already such incredible work being done to raise awareness and combat one of the greatest social injustices of our time. Together, we can effect change!

Today is World Day Against Human Trafficking.

The theme this year is "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking". Child trafficking is a global issue. Every corner of the world is affected. Children make up a big part of trafficking victims worldwide. Children can be victims of various forms of human trafficking, including forced labor or criminality, child soldiers, begging, illegal adoption, and sexual exploitation.

Ways you can get involved:

Raise awareness - Share, like, and comment on social media messages for the World Day Against Human Trafficking.

Be aware - Inform yourself about human trafficking.

Be alert - If you see anything that you think might be related to a human trafficking crime, inform the police, or call a local anti-trafficking helpline.

Be responsible - Educate yourself to make your consumer choices and actions more ethical. While some decisions might be clearer than others, you can pledge not to purchase goods and services that could be linked directly or indirectly to sexual exploitation, forced labor, or other forms of exploitative practices.

Get involved - Find out what is being done in your community and see what you can do to help end human trafficking. Encourage everyone in your communities – friends, family, business partners, colleagues – to educate themselves about human trafficking.
