✨ Honored. Humbled. Grateful. ✨
I am deeply honored to share that Birth Work South Florida was selected and received the 2025 Maternal Health Impact Award recipient by Walmart and 4Kira4Moms. 💜
This recognition means so much more than words can express. I literally had NONE upon receiving the award! This award speaks to the power of showing up—consistently, wholeheartedly, and unapologetically—for our mamas, our babies, and our communities.
This year I promised myself to move through this field and life with an open heart. For me that means being open to receiving. I give effortlessly. That's the easy part. I push to bridge the gaps in provider care and community. It's too much going on in this world to not effectively communicate and work together.
I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the City of Sunrise Fire Department—especially the Fire Chief—for inviting myself and Fadwah of Midwife360 to share our presentation on how first responders can effectively respond to planned home births. That kind of collaboration and openness is exactly what community-centered care looks like in action.
This award celebrates our work to improve maternal health outcomes, increase access to doula care, support breastfeeding, and reduce infant mortality—especially for Black and brown families in South Florida. It honors the deep-rooted love and intentional care that goes into mentorship, wraparound support, and creating safe, affirming spaces for birth and healing.
To be recognized during the Move for Moms Evening Celebration, honoring the life of Kira Johnson, is a sacred reminder of why we do this work. Her story continues to ignite a movement—and I’m committed to doing my part, every day.
Thank you for seeing us Dr.Que! You and your teams energy to make an impact is UNMATCHED! Thank you for honoring this work. And thank you to every family who has trusted Birth Work South Florida along the journey. This award is for us.
With gratitude and purpose,
Kamilah Harris 💜
