In 2021 we served over 1600 people in the Big Bend area ending their experience of homelessness.

Our Mission: Our mission is to end homelessness in the Big Bend through leadership, education, advocacy, and the provision of quality services and affordable housing. Today was a milestone worth celebrating. 🎖️
We were honored to welcome Simon and State Representative Allison Tant to tour our newly renovated veteran housing community — and to officially rename it Valor at Balkin in honor of the formerly homeless veterans who now call it home.
This renovation wouldn't have been possible without the partners who showed up for our veterans: the VFW , the VA, and so many others who believe that those who served deserve a place to land.
Valor at Balkin stands as a reminder that housing is more than shelter — it's dignity, stability, and a fresh start for those who gave so much.
Thank you to everyone who joined us today, and to every partner who helped make this vision real.

📣 NOW HIRING: Youth Enrichment Coordinator (Part-Time)

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation? Family Promise of the Big Bend is looking for an energetic, organized go-getter to design and lead an 8-week youth enrichment program for kids ages 5–16!

In this role, you'll:
🎨 Plan and lead hands-on activities — STEM, arts, leadership, and life skills
🤝 Connect with local organizations, professionals, and performers
🎤 Vet and book guest speakers and groups to engage our youth

What we're looking for:
✔️ 1–2 years of experience planning and leading structured youth activities or community programs
✔️ Experience working with youth
✔️ Strong public speaking and group management skills
✔️ A self-starter who thrives with limited direct supervision

Great fit for a retired education professional or a college student looking to make an impact this summer!

💰 $25/hour
📋 Must pass a Level 2 background and drug screening

📚 Back to School Drive – Help Us Fill 34 Backpacks!

Family Promise of the Big Bend is gearing up for our Back to School Event this Friday, August 7, and we need your help!

Leon County Schools generously donated backpacks for our neighbors at HOPE Community — but we still need to fill them. Right now, 34 school-aged kids are staying at HOPE Community and getting ready for a new school year: 21 younger students (ages 3-11) and 13 middle and high schoolers (ages 12+).

Most-needed supplies:
✏️ #2 pencils / mechanical pencils
✏️ Pencil sharpeners
🧼 Erasers
🖊️ Pens
🖍️ Highlighters
🎒 Pencil cases
📓 Wide-ruled notebooks
📓 College-ruled notebooks

Help Us Send Big Bend Kids Back to School Ready to Learn!

Family Promise of the Big Bend is collecting new backpacks for the children and teens in our care — and we need your help! We're hoping to collect 70 backpacks for students of all ages, from Pre-K through high school, as they head back to school this year.

How to help: Drop off a new backpack (any age, any style!) at HOPE Community, 2729 W. Pensacola St., Tallahassee, FL 32304.

Update on a partnership we're proud of! 🎉 Following our earlier announcement of the collaboration between Talquin Electric Cooperative and CoBank's Sharing Success program, FPBB CEO Nick Maddox recently sat down with Talquin leadership to officially receive their check in support of our mission.
