They say, “never meet your heroes”. While Russell Brand isn’t my hero our family has watched his YouTube channel over the years…and my encounter with him today may prove that old saying wrong. If heroes or celebrities are real and sincere they are worth meeting in real life!
Besides my amazing husband, Steve Jones my college history professor, and Lorene Bissenden….I have never had anyone be so kind and truly engrossed in what I had to say. Like, genuinely interested in what he asked and my responses. I know if he had had the time he would have rolled the streets with me and come
over fo dinner. Yeh, that nice.
BTW- Lorene you would love to have him over to chat in your living room.
We talked about sugar addiction, my time as a teacher, how I started my business, my tattoo, being a follower of Jesus and what they means. And just the fun of everything I do! He hopped in my truck, and took video to maybe share with his side of social media.
I am still mentally absorbing the fun of it all. And how refreshing it was to not have someone expect something of me…just wanting to get to know me..Momma P….the person….but on top of that a world famous person.
I say all of to first, share how God answered my prayer with this encounter today…I guess that makes it a Divine appointment.
And second, take time! Stop and get to know the lady who is ringing up your groceries, talk to you UPS driver, take a second to get to know the front desk lady at your child’s school.
We act too busy and we miss the simple moments to show kindness. If we could each take time to step outside ourselves and see others as people and care enough to get to know them the world would be a better and happier place!
