We are filled with gratitude following our 2026 Jill McArthur National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Luncheon. It was a powerful afternoon of reflection, community, and a shared commitment to supporting those impacted by crime in the Big Bend area.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to our guest speaker, Dana Mabrey. Dana courageously shared the story of her daughter, Brittany, whose life was tragically lost to a fentanyl overdose following a long battle with addiction—a struggle rooted in the deep trauma of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence. Dana’s bravery in speaking the truth about the intersection of trauma and substance use reminds us all why our work is so vital.

It was an honor to recognize individuals and organizations who go above and beyond for survivors every single day. Please join us in congratulating our 2026 award recipients:

Agnes Fury Victim/Survivor of the Year:
Sandra Malone Horne

Kathy Ray Criminal Justice Official of the Year: Florida State University Police Department

Charles Morris Victim Advocate of the Year:
Florida State University Victim Advocate Program

To everyone who attended, thank you for standing with us. Your presence ensures that survivors in our community are seen, heard, and supported.
