Well-Being for Loved Ones with Dementia: Special Focus on Palliative Care,”

7:00 PM- 8:30 PM (Eastern Time),
Thursday, April 23, 2026.

This workshop provides important information about the health, emotional, and spiritual benefits of palliative care for older adults with dementia and their family caregivers. Caregivers typically receive little or no information from their health care providers about the impact of palliative care on the quality of life for their loved ones with dementia. Here’s your opportunity to get the inside scoop!

Featured presenters, Fabiola Jean-Charles and Chris Morissette, will cover key topics, such as what palliative care really is and its impact on quality of life, when to consider using palliative care, and best methods for accessing these services, and how to obtain insurance coverage for palliative care.

Tomeka Norton-Brown will highlight opportunities for free skills training, problem-solving consultation, and support for family caregivers of older adults with dementia. She will also talk about her personal caregiving experiences in using palliative care. Current and future caregivers, elder care professionals, and other interested community members are strongly encouraged to join the workshop.

Conversation: “Hearts of Care, Hands of Thanks: Honoring Our Caregivers"

Listen LIVE @ https://wtal1450.com/

November is National Family Caregivers Month, and during this time, the world pauses to recognize and support the incredible people who care for their loved ones every single day. This month hits close to home for me because my mom and I are caregivers for my grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s — a disease that has touched my family for generations and turned many of us into caregivers.

That’s why it’s so encouraging to see organizations right here in our community taking time to honor those who give so much of themselves. The Dementia Care and Cure Initiative, or DCCI, is doing just that through their “Hearts of Care, Hands of Thanks” Caregivers Celebration, happening at the Chattahoochee Southside Senior Center on November 20th from 10 AM to 1 PM. This event is all about showing appreciation, offering support, and reminding caregivers that their work truly makes a difference.

Joining me on the show today is Whitney Scott, a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern at the TMH Memory Disorder Clinic and a member of DCCI. She’s here to share more about this special event, the importance of supporting caregivers, and how our community can get involved.
