NWF Health Network NWF Health Network serves as the Network Management Agency for child protection and behavioral health services in Northwest Florida.

When a foster family unexpectedly welcomed a child who uses a wheelchair, they needed help making their home more accessible. The foster family support team put out a request for help installing a ramp, and the community answered.

We could not be more grateful to Dave VanBlaricom and Jerry Blanchard, who brought their tools and spent two days in the blazing sun to complete the project for this family.

Their generosity made an immediate difference for this child and family, and their impact will be felt for a long time to come. 💙

Deputy Irvin Ramos with the Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida Office responded to a call involving a mother and her three children who were living in their vehicle while she struggled with alcohol use disorder.

Deputy Ramos saw an opportunity to support the entire family. He and another deputy helped provide the family with a hotel room while Community Pathways Outreach and BeGenerous Inc. worked to connect them with additional support.

The following morning, the family received fresh food, clothing, and a birthday cake and gifts for one of the children’s birthdays. With support from the Opioid Settlement Dollars, the family was able to remain in the hotel for four days until a detox bed became available.

Deputy Ramos continued checking on the family, helping build trust and making sure they had food and support. After a life-threatening medical emergency delayed treatment, the mother was eventually able to enter detox and transition into a 24-month recovery program with BeGenerous.

Today, the family is no longer homeless, two of the children have been reunified with their mother and are enrolled in school, and she continues working toward recovery while rebuilding stability for her family.

She shared that she wanted to keep the promise she made to Deputy Ramos to enter treatment, crediting his tough love, follow-through, and willingness to see beyond her addiction with helping save her life.

This is what community care can look like. When we come alongside individuals and families during their most difficult moments, we can help create a path toward hope, stability, and a better future. 💙

Our Independent Living Program is excited to invite current and former youth ages 15–23 who have experienced foster care to an upcoming Interactive Life Skills Event focused on budgeting and financial skills.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn budgeting tips, practice creating a monthly budget at different interactive stations, win prizes, and connect with their peers.
