Las Vegas just welcomed one of the most storied organizations in Black Greek life, and the city showed up for it.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated held its 72nd International Boule at Mandalay Bay this past week, its first time ever hosting the gathering in Vegas. Roughly 27,000 members came through, bringing an estimated $75 million economic impact with them. Beyond the business sessions, members set a Guinness World Record packing 2,282 meal bags in one sitting for local kids facing food insecurity, working alongside Three Square Food Bank.

Clark County lit up the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign in pink and green to mark the occasion, a fitting nod to a sisterhood that's been building leaders since 1908.

This is the side of Las Vegas that doesn't always make the highlight reel, legacy, service, and community, at scale.

Are you election ready? It’s time to prepare to get out the vote!

What an amazing voter information session on July 13, with the Leon County Supervisor of Elections Office, presented by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated —the Chi Upsilon Omega Chapter (XYQ) serving Leon and Jefferson counties in Florida.

“Get Ready to Vote/Know Your Ballot” was the topic of the virtual workshop. XYQ is sharing the webinar to educate the community about the upcoming 2026 Primary and General elections, particularly in Leon County. Info covered critical dates for voters, what high school and college student voters need to know, and accommodations for voters with special needs.

The event was hosted by the Chapter’s Advocate for Social Justice (Connection) Committee.
