Earlier in the year we had the opportunity to participate in a training with the US Humane World for Animals. Recently, we have been working to participate/share about more free livestock trainings and are looking forward to hearing from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) this month.

The two courses being offered are highlighted below and will take place on October 27th and 28th at the Florida Sheriff’s Risk Management Fund location on Chancellorsville Drive in Tallahassee, FL from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. These one-day courses are free, open to anyone, and you are welcome to attend one or both days of the trainings.

October 27th - All Hazards Preparedness for Animals in Disasters (AWR 328)
Topics will include unique issues that must be considered and addressed when animals are involved in an emergency such as safe animal handling, animal evacuation, animal sheltering, humane euthanasia, carcass disposal, and more.

October 28th - All Hazards Planning for Animal, Agricultural, and Food Related Disasters (MGT 448)
Topics will include agroterrorism, detection and diagnosis, unique challenges that rural communities face in planning for and responding to food and/or animal-related disasters, recovery, and the importance of sustainable operations during a disastrous event, and more.
