🚨 Hurricane POD Update 🚨

All Escambia County Points of Distribution (PODs) have been consolidated into ONE location opening tomorrow at the Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W DeSoto Street in Pensacola.

PODs are now available across these counties:
📍 Escambia: Pensacola
📍 Walton: DeFuniak Springs, Freeport & Santa Rosa Beach
📍 Washington: Vernon

Impacted residents can visit a POD to access essential supplies, including shelf-stable food, bottled water & recovery resources.

As Hurricane Isaias impacts Florida, important resources are available to help Floridians during response and recovery.

Volunteer Florida is coordinating with Florida VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters) partners to support ongoing efforts. Please save and share these disaster assistance hotlines with anyone who may need support.

With Hurricane approaching our state, local officials have already issued mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders for vulnerable areas. If you are ordered to leave, do not waste time, or wait until the last minute.

If you are preparing to hit the road, make sure use these essential evacuation guidelines to keep your loved ones safe:

-Fuel Up Early: Stop at a gas station as soon as possible. Keep your vehicle fully serviced and maintain a full tank of gas in case you encounter long lines or highway delays.
-Plan Your Destination: Plan your route entirely ahead of time. Know exactly where you are going—whether it is a friend's home inland, a hotel, or a public emergency shelter.
-Pack Food and Water: Pack enough shelf-stable food and bottled water for everyone in the vehicle, including your pets, to last the duration of the trip.
-Withdraw Cash: Grab cash from an ATM in advance. If the storm causes widespread power outages, credit card machines and ATMs will be offline.
-Have Patience: Thousands of your neighbors are hitting the roads at the exact same time. Expect heavy delays, slow down, and remain patient with your fellow motorists.

Give yourself plenty of time, monitor local news for zone updates, and please drive carefully. State Troopers are stationed along major routes to assist motorists.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s Forest Hill Club teens and AmeriCorps volunteer Jessica recently had the opportunity to explore career pathways and gain hands-on experience at the Career Expo hosted by Florida Mentoring.

AmeriCorps service is about more than giving back—it also provides opportunities for professional development, career readiness and skill building. Experiences like these allow AmeriCorps members and teens to connect with industry professionals, explore skilled trades, develop practical skills and discover pathways to future employment.

Through opportunities like this, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County is helping prepare teens for the future while building the skills and connections that can open doors to what comes next.

With support from VF's Rural Community Assets Fund (RCAF) program, The Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida is creating meaningful opportunities for participants in its Club Beyond program for adults with disabilities to give back to their community.

From assembling hurricane preparedness buckets and creating literacy activity kits to supporting local Head Start children, Club Beyond participants are building confidence, practicing valuable life skills and making a difference through service.
