Omega Lamplighters The Omega Lamplighters is a program “Focused On Helping Shape & Develop Tomorrow's Future Leaders? and one from Leon H.S.
(7)

It all started in 2008…

Omega Lamplighters, Incorporated( ) is a 501c3 youth leadership organization for young men in grades Fourth through Twelfth founded in 2008 by Royle King II. Tuesday, September 15, 2008 Omega Lamplighters was founded by Royle King II in Tallahassee, FL. The program was the brain child of King II who participated in two mentoring programs in his high school years. The O

mega Sparks program created by the Theta Alpha Foundation (Dallas, TX) and the Dallas Fort Worth Association of Black Journalists Urban Journalism Boot Camp, a member chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. From this experience King II said he would later create something that was as impactful in his life but with a twist and inclusion of fun and things he wanted to do more of as a teen mixed with the additional things he knew he needed as a African American male in America. The program was piloted with 12 young men from the Big Bend area. Six from Wakulla H.S., two from Godby H.S., two from Lincoln H.S., one from Florida H.S. Simeon Nelson was appointed as the programs first Director. The first three and a half years set the foundation for the program and the formal in-duction process was birthed from these experiences leading to the first class of Omega Lamplighters. Sunday, February 15, 2012 the first official class, “Optimus 20”, of Omega Lamplighters was inducted into the program. During this time, the official logo, colors and shield design was adopted. The Big Bend Area (Florida) chapters include Leon (Tallahassee), Wakulla, Gadsden and Jefferson County. Principles: Leadership, Academics, Maturity & Perseverance

MISSION: To prepare young men to be socially conscious and responsible citizens through a village of community mentors teaching perseverance, self-awareness, and confidence. VISION: To be the premiere organization building a village that empowers & supports young men to achieve more than they thought possible.

🎓 Once a Lamplighter, Always a Lamplighter! 🎓

Join us in congratulating Gabriel O. Nance on earning his Bachelor of Science in Health, Leisure & Fitness Studies from Florida A&M University! 🐍🧡💚

What makes this moment even more special is that many of us remember Gabe as a young Omega Lamplighter graduating from James S. Rickards High School and preparing to begin his journey at FAMU. Today, he returns as a proud college graduate, proving that hard work, perseverance, and purpose pay off.

From Lamplighter to FAMU graduate, Gabe continues to embody leadership, excellence, and the commitment to always strive for more.

Congratulations, Gabe! Your Omega Lamplighters family is proud of you and excited to see all that lies ahead.

💜⚡️ LAMPLIGHTERS LEADING THE WAY ⚡️💜

This weekend, several of our Omega Lamplighters joined graduates from across Leon County at the naacptlh Tallahassee NAACP Youth Council’s City-Wide Baccalaureate Service, a celebration of achievement, purpose, and new beginnings.

We were especially proud to see Omega Lamplighter Alumnus McKinley C.K. Wilson return to the stage as the featured keynote speaker, pouring wisdom and encouragement into the next generation of leaders. Moments like these remind us that the impact of the Omega Lamplighters extends far beyond graduation—it creates a legacy.

From current Lamplighters preparing for their next chapter to alumni inspiring those who follow behind them, this is what “We Lead The Way” looks like.

Congratulations to all members of the Leon County Class of 2026. The future is in good hands. 👑

From the GAAP Academy to graduation season. 💜⚡️

Watching Tyson, Nigel, Josh, and Kayden walk across those stages is bigger than a promotion to the next grade—it’s a reflection of the growth, leadership, accountability, and brotherhood built through the GAAP Academy and Omega Lamplighters.

These young kings put in the work, stayed committed, and represented with excellence every step of the way. The future is bright, and they’re just getting started. 👑

Keep leading the way.

The torch has been passed, and the light continues to shine. 💜🔥

During Lamplighters Week, we celebrated our second TORCH Class Graduation — honoring young men who have committed to growth, leadership, accountability, service, and brotherhood.

These young men have shown what it means to rise, lead, and walk with purpose. This moment was more than a ceremony — it was a celebration of progress, perseverance, and the village standing behind them.

Congratulations to our TORCH graduates. Keep carrying the light. 🦁🔥
