The Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association

The Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association The Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association began in the early sixties. The Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association began in the early sixties, with Mr. Whiting, Jr.

By the late seventies, all surrounding subdivisions joined JGNA, under the leadership of President Anita Davis. 80 years later, JGNA continues to grow and develop. Cornelius Speed. Speed served as its first president and led a small membership. Before JGNA started, most subdivisions had individual neighborhood associations. In the late seventies, this changed under the leadership of President Anit

a Davis. She united all subdivisions into what we know today as the Jake Gaither Neighborhood Association (JGNA). Uniting these subdivisions formally established JGNA with by-laws, officers, membership fees, and everything to sustain the organization. JGNA continues to grow and develop. The organization continues to have a strong legacy of leadership with the following presidents: Eddie Haugabrook, Edwin “Corky” Norwood, Jerrlyne Jackson, Mary Lester, and, the sitting president, Apostle Willie D. JGNA has two official bi-monthly meetings: the general body meeting and the Board of Directors meeting. These two meetings alternate on opposite weeks. JGNA officers are active, and responsible, for neighborhood and community involvement. At meetings, the officers share opportunities, upcoming events, and vital information to improve the quality of life for all members.
